This is why we created Humengi: "It is estimated that around 80% of cities worldwide do not have affordable housing options for the majority of their population (1). The world needs to provide two billion homes over the next 75 years — meaning 96,000 new affordable homes need to be built every day (2)." Humengi will play a large role in helping solve this challenge around the world and we are always open to collaboration with industry partners. https://lnkd.in/gne8g2gi

Social Infrastructure ++ [city improvements] Social infrastructure refers to the built environment and amenities that facilitate social interactions, cultural activities, and community engagement, while also serving practical, utilitarian purposes. This type of infrastructure goes beyond mere functionality; it enhances the quality of urban life by fostering a sense of community and providing spaces where people can connect, relax, and enjoy their surroundings. One prime example of social infrastructure is a city canal. While its primary role is often related to water management—such as flood control, drainage, or irrigation—it can also be designed to serve multiple social and recreational purposes. Social infrastructure embodies the idea that urban design can integrate utilitarian needs with enriching experiences. By thoughtfully designing spaces like city canals to serve both functional and social purposes, cities can enhance their livability, foster community connections, and create vibrant public realms that resonate with all residents.

Social KIPs matters in Sustainable Architecure. Which social KPIs do you consider critical for sustainable architecture to positively impact communities? Personally, I find community engagement, local employment, cultural preservation, and health and well-being to be key. Community engagement fosters alignment with local needs, while hiring locally strengthens economic resilience. Integrating cultural elements respects heritage, and prioritizing wellness creates healthier, happier spaces. What other social KPIs would you consider essential in sustainability assessments? Creating a "liveability ecosystem" means everyone considers "the inter-dependent set of complex relationships between the social, economic, physical, and cultural aspects of how and where we live". In simple terms, it's not just about throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks to address the short supply of housing - it's about strategically building unique, connected and sustainable communities. Tomorrow is a special day to honor our seniors for their invaluable contributions to society – it’s World Senior Citizen’s Day! 👴👵 And for us, this day is a reminder to reflect on a crucial part of our work: how we can make living in cities more inclusive, accessible, and safe for our seniors. 💙🤝 Our buildings are going to be around for a while, so modernization is a must. By using prefab solutions, cutting-edge innovations, and creative designs, we can weave accessibility and inclusivity into the very fabric of our cities. Because for us, this commitment to accessibility and inclusivity isn’t just a one-time thing – it’s part of our daily work. Great article based on the new report by Bennett Institute for Public Policy: "Private Space, Public Good: Working Together to Deliver Social Infrastructure." Authors Rosa Marks and Owen Garling explore the private sector's significant role in establishing spaces that bring communities together. "Social infrastructure is often seen as the responsibility of the public sector," yet their research shows that people "rarely distinguish between types of ownership when they think about the value of these kinds of facility." Hence, their report advocates for a more inclusive approach to social infrastructure since investment in these spaces enhances community well-being and yields sustainable commercial returns. Collaboration is key to "understanding what spaces are needed and account for their long-term maintenance and management." #thirdplaces #socialspaces Check out the full article: https://ow.ly/mpfE50SO8Lh
