Vistry Group has secured planning approval to build 140 new homes in Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, in partnership with Places for People. This £31m development will provide a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes, including 83 affordable properties, designed to meet the growing housing needs of the area. Construction will start in Spring 2025, with homes built using modern methods of construction to reduce carbon emissions, supporting both sustainability and community growth. The development will also offer green open spaces and be located within walking distance of the historic 11th-century Earl Shilton Castle. Central Jersey is evolving, and the groundbreaking of Riverton in Sayreville, Middlesex County, marks a long-awaited transformation of one of the region’s most challenging sites. For decades, the former National Lead site sat vacant, a 418-acre reminder of industrial decline. Today, thanks to a $2.5 billion redevelopment effort, Riverton is becoming a vibrant mixed-use waterfront destination. This is a powerful example of how public-private partnerships can drive progress. The project received up to $400 million in funding through New Jersey’s Aspire Program, incentivizing the inclusion of affordable housing and broader economic development. Spearheaded by Cincinnati-based North American Properties in collaboration with New Jersey’s own PGIM Real Estate, Riverton showcases how out-of-state investment can combine with local expertise to create real impact. When complete, Riverton will offer 1,300 residential units (20% affordable), retail shops, waterfront dining, and a 200-slip marina. It’s a bold mix of residential, recreational, and economic opportunities, anchored by Bass Pro Shops and QuickChek Corporation with more tenants to come. What excites me most is seeing the revitalization of this long-vacant site into a hub for living, working, and recreation. Vistry Group have now exchanged contracts with Homes England to deliver 750 new homes on the site of the former City Hospital on Dudley Road in Birmingham. This transformative regeneration project will blend affordable, private, and rental homes to meet the city's growing housing demand.   The development will preserve the historic infirmary frontage by converting it into apartments, while also creating up to 8,000 sq ft of commercial and community space. With 35% of the homes designated as affordable, the project aims to provide more people with access to quality housing in a sustainable and vibrant community. Additionally, the plan includes significant improvements to local infrastructure, along with new public spaces and a park for future residents.   Phil McHugh, Managing Director of Vistry North West Midlands said: “This major regeneration scheme will transform a challenging brownfield site into 750 high-quality, mixed tenure homes and new commercial uses, bringing valuable investment to the city.”   This project is a key part of ongoing efforts to regenerate Birmingham and provide high-quality, affordable housing for the community.
