November marked a special anniversary for me. It's been four years since we sold my previous company, Onica. This day is memorable for me, but not because it was a typical day celebrating the sale. Because of where I found out about the sale. This was one of the most significant days of my career. There was so much anticipation leading up to the deal closing. The day before it closed, I broke my glasses. If you don't know, I can't see without them. So, instead of going into the office the day of the deal finalizing, I headed to the optometrist. While sitting for my eye exam and scrambling to choose new glasses, I got the call. Was that how I pictured it? No! But that's the essence of start-ups and founding companies, it's not always going to pan out how you imagined, but the important thing is hitting your goals. No matter how you get there! My startup business story. Many of you may not know, but almost 6 months ago I took a leap of faith and started my own business! I founded Park Avenue Pets, a luxury pet apparel brand that specializes in satin dog bandanas, but with a vision to expand to so much more. So much heart was put into this company, purely inspired and motivated by my two pups, Bijou and Maisy. I’ve never shared this on LinkedIn, but let me share the timeline of events of how this came to be: * NOV 2021 – Bijou joined our family! Her as my muse, the Park Avenue dream was born. * NOV 2021 – Nothing happened. I started my dream job at AMD and knew there was a lot to learn. I knew I wouldn’t have time. * APR 2022 – Maisy joined our family! Tempted to start my business but didn’t believe in myself. Too many doubts. * DEC 2022 – A year into my dream job at AMD, I couldn’t shake Park Avenue out of my mind. * JAN 2023 – LET’S TAKE A LEAP. Designing process and product development for Park Avenue begins! * OCT 2023 – After months of samples, quality control, trial and error… Park Avenue has launched! After 2 years of dreaming, I did it!!! I took the leap and launched my brand! There were so many reasons why I didn’t start. I have never in my life have felt so happy and fulfilled. How fortunate and blessed am I to be able to say I have two dream jobs?! Impacting gaming communities & charities by day AND designing cute dog bandanas. 🎮 🐶 We’re soon approaching our 6-month milestone, and here are some accolades thus far: - Launched 5x Fall/Winder dog bandana styles, soon to launch 5x more - 1x Retail location @ The Bernese Barista dog café - Completed 2x pop-ups, and soon joining 2 more! - Starting to tap into the wholesale market Here’s to say, if you have a bright idea -- a dream you can’t shake off. This is a watershed year for Entytle, Inc.. We celebrate our 10th anniversary - which by itself is an achievement in the world of entrepreneurship. But in a twist, we plan to recognize multiple dates during the year that are meaningful to the formation of this company. Every organization has dates that hold special significance to the origin story. Back in 2013, my friend Steve Uhlir and I had stepped away from our respective professional endeavors, and we started discussing various problems that we had encountered during our 12+ years of working together. Specifically, he and I had spent time in a large Services organization - him as the VP of Engineering, and me as VP of Marketing. So we naturally gravitated towards this aspect of an OEM’s business, and before long, we were batting around ideas that could (and should) be explored. But like everyone else in a “pre-entrepreneurship” stage, we were both somewhat busy with other projects, and we met occasionally to explore these ideas further. It was clear that many of our ideas held promise, but part-time work was never going to cut it. At least not for us. So we made a commitment to “run down” various ideas to see if they made sense, and were worthy of investing our time, imagination and money! As many of these discussions were taking place in late 2013, we agreed (somewhat arbitrarily!) that we would get together on the “first Monday of January 2014” in an office space my co-founder Sujata Joshi and I had rented for our personal use. That date was January 6, 2014. And shortly thereafter Entytle was born!
