Did You Know?
🤔 Java and JavaScript have similar names, but they're as different as 🍏apples and 🍊oranges!
🔍 Their similar names are derived from marketing rather than technology. Back in the day, Java was the cool kid on the block, known for its robust, cross-platform capabilities. Netscape, the original developer of JavaScript, saw an opportunity to ride the Java wave of popularity by naming their new scripting language "JavaScript."
Despite their names, these two languages serve different purposes and follow distinct design philosophies:
#Java
Sun Microsystems (now Oracle) created Java, a powerful, object-oriented programming language famous for its "write once, run anywhere" capability. Developers use it to build complex applications that work on any device supporting Java.
#JavaScript
Netscape gave birth to JavaScript, a light script language that aims to make web pages lively and responsive. It breathes life into your browser, letting you tweak content, deal with events, and a whole lot more. JavaScript has grown a ton, from working on the #FrontEnd to powering server-side apps with Node.js!
