I realised the HR or recruiters nowadays are not really doing their job when hunting for potential candidates. It seems like they dont check the LinkedIn profiles of the candidates 1st before texting them. Here is an example I experienced as a Singaporean based in SG and who has never studied or worked in China before. 1) The company is located in China & doesnt sponsor work permit for hiring foreigners. 2) They do not allow their staff to travel frequently between China & SG. So, why in the 1st place was I being approached? Does sending an email/message to any candidates will add credit to their KPI? Even though this candidate does not meet the minimum requirements. Hope to see more HR or recruiter to have global view/experience in the future.

Important Resume Tip for Job Seekers in Singapore If you're applying for jobs in Singapore, it's important to know that you should not include your NRIC, FIN, or Employment Pass number on your resume. Including such sensitive information can expose you to risks like fraud or impersonation, especially since you can't control who accesses your resume. Under the PDPA guidelines, these identifiers are issued by the Singapore Government for public administration and transactions with the Government—not for job applications in the private sector. Employers will request these details directly from you if they need them during the hiring process. Before you hit "send" on your next job application, make sure your resume is optimized for success. BUT NO ONE WANTS TO COME TO HONG KONG?! I was just looking at one of my recent shortlists for a senior role here in HK (6 candidates). Here’s the make up: - 2x Hong Kong - 1x Singapore - 1x USA - 1x Canada - 1x UAE Of course there’s arguments to be made in both directions for local vs. international talent, but my point is thus: PEOPLE WANT TO COME TO HONG KONG AGAIN! How good is that! After the 4 years we’ve had here, recruiters and hiring managers should keep a global view on all searches and strike while the iron’s hot. Let’s get some of this good talent either returning to, or coming into Hong Kong for the first time! #hongkong #thinkglobal #relocation #riskmamagement #talent #opportunities

How companies respond to job applications is critical to firstly uphold their brand as an organisation, secondly enhance their attraction and retention strategy and of equal importance ensure they do not lose talent in the process. In my opinion, timely communication is key to attracting and engaging potential new hires so employers should acknowledge applications promptly, provide regular updates and be transparent about the hiring timeline. A tip from me is to automate communication with a response giving a date of when the applicant will hear back. #roberthalf #talentsolutions #hiring
