How embarrassing to be the first country to have breached the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Disabled People (UNCRDP) and still today there is a gap between the standards recommended and the actual reality lived by many within the disabled community. What is also shocking is that according to the article there were 13,777 disability hate crimes recorded in England and Wales in 2022-23. It's disheartening to witness such little progress for the disabled community, especially in the wake of criticism from the UN. Being disabled should never equate to being less valued or deserving of opportunities. It doesn't diminish anyone's worth or value. Lets challenge societal narratives and promote a more inclusive understanding of disability—one that recognizes the diverse strengths, experiences, and contributions of individuals within the disabled community. And lets continue working towards a narrative that celebrates the richness and diversity of all individuals, including those with disabilities. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone to thrive.

Ross, who has Down Syndrome, is one of the co-founders, and the team is committed to providing equal opportunities to individuals with learning disabilities.
