2024 has seen continued efforts in #climateaction. Throughout the year, #Ecosperity convened players across sectors and industries to drive discussions and foster collaboration for concerted action. At our flagship event, Ecosperity Week, leaders and experts identified pathways for a just transition, discussed approaches to accelerate and scale #decarbonisation, and addressed strategies to close the climate financing gap. These discussions continued through our Ecosperity Conversations series which includes “Driving Asia’s Transition to Green Transportation: Opportunities for Investment and Impact” as well as two sessions on energy transition and climate finance at #COP29. The exchange of insights was further bolstered by reports like the Southeast Asia's Green Economy 2024 Report and Powering an affordable EV revolution in emerging Asia report, which shone a spotlight on investible opportunities that can bring the region closer to its climate goals. As the new year approaches, keep watching this space as we take stock of Asia’s progress toward its 2030 decarbonisation goals and identify strategic areas for systems-level change that the region requires to carve a viable pathway to 2030. Watch this space! On #EarthDay, Monday 22nd April, the Net Zero Tracker will be releasing its latest analysis, comparing on the net zero commitments of the world’s largest private companies, with their publicly-listed counterparts. Reflecting on a flurry of recent climate regulation introduced in regions from the US, to EU, UK and Singapore, we delve into the extent to which both public and private firms are preparing for ‘whole economy’ decarbonisation, through target-setting. The latest NZT analysis builds on our earlier study, ‘Everybody’s Business: The Net Zero Blind Spot’ released in October 2022 study. As reported by Simon Jessop, Reuters, - Just 32 of the 100 biggest private firms had set targets to reach net-zero carbon emissions, compared with 69 of the 100 largest public companies. Have targets improved in the last 18 months? Find out on Monday.

Bridgewater's latest research insight discusses that about half the technologies needed to get to net zero are in a mature state, the other half still needs massive financing to become viable and scalable. That financing is lacking. → "Do We Have the Technologies Necessary to Reduce Global Emissions?" "Achieving the world’s ambitious climate goals will require rapidly scaling economically viable technologies, while also innovating, incentivizing, and investing in less mature technologies that are not yet cost-competitive." https://lnkd.in/e8egQ6p6 Bridgewater Associates
