Our packaging journey has never been perfect, but we are always trying to get better everyday. A few years ago, we shifted from bag-in-a-box to a post-consumer recycled material (PCR) pouch made from upcycled milk jugs. This was a good first step, and helped keep our product fresh longer, but finding a way to recycle the empty pouches has been a challenge…until now!  We’re excited to partner with Ridwell to make recycling as easy as walking out your front door. 🌎 💚 As a Seven Sundays subscriber, you can now get 20% off your Ridwell plan every single month! We’ve used Ridwell at our home for the last 6 months to recycle all the things not accepted by our City recycling program, like our multi-layer plastic cereal pouches, snack bar wrappers, bread bags, textiles, batteries, lightbulbs, etc.. It was a bit shocking to see how much volume we generated, and our weekly garbage collection as a family of 5 is now down to one small bag per week. Choose reusable plates and utensils, wooden utensils are best if you want disposable utensils for larger groups! 2. Use cloth napkins instead of paper, as they can be washed afterwards and put away for next time. 3. Set up clearly labeled recycling bins so people know exactly where to put their waste. Also be sure to have a general waste bin too! 4. Encourage guests to bring their own containers for leftovers and freeze whatever you can. This and more 😨 This is the plastic I deal with whenever I refill my kitchen pantry After hours of filling the empty/ half filled jars, sometimes I feel empty.. 🫙 of not being able to do much about this kind of trash.. Though my household along with kids, carefully segregates the trash, in blue and green bins, and take special care in disposal of other items suitable for a red bin, still I feel if this can change somewhere Me and my kids have stopped using plastic bottles, carry our own water bottles and our own cloth/ jute bags... ‘Sip, return, repeat’ is being piloted in a Californian city! 🥤♻️ The idea is that you can go to a hospitality premises, get a drink in a cup and later return the empty cup to any other place in the area! 🙌 An important aspect of this for us, is that the reusable cups seem to be ‘standardised’ so there’s a clear track of where the cups in the scheme are going.
