Thanks to everyone who submitted an exchange price to the test open source HPI today. It was an overwhelming response! It genuinely far exceeded expectations and I sensed a real enthusiasm for it. The test was as valuable as it was successful for the following reasons: 1. It flushed out 3 minor mistakes in our dataset structure. Now fixed 2. It revealed 2 omissions, being added tomorrow. 3. It revealed a weakness in the link between BestAgent and Ordnance Survey (which is why the address lookup stopped working) 4. It confirmed that, unfortunately, we do need to add an “are you a human” verification step at the beginning. Other surprises: Far more sellers reporting exchange prices than expected. A huge number of tenants reported the rent they are currently paying and their move in date. A surprising number of people joined the mailing list for updates on the HPI. Best of all: People already started sharing it on social media as a great idea, which gives me hope we may get enough vitality to reach big numbers. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who contributed. Thanks. Will keep you posted.

📚 100 Books 📚 At the beginning of the year, I set out on a personal mission to read 100 books in 2024. Today, I’d like to happily announce that I completed that mission. During this time, I learned a few things to help any reader: - Libby gives you access to free digital and audio books and all that you need to use it is a FREE membership to your local library - If you don’t like reading there’s also Kanopy, which lets you stream shows and movies with a library card - Goodreads, the social graph of books, lets you follow friends, track progress, write reviews, and receive great recommendations based on your book preferences I really enjoyed this challenge a lot and while I’m not entirely sure if I would ever do it again, I am glad I did it. While seemingly daunting at times, I undoubtedly learned a lot – both about myself, and from the books. I learned more in these last 9 months than I ever thought I would have when I initially started this challenge. Below, I put together a list of my favorite books from this time. Surprisingly, out of the 100 books that I read and rated, I only gave 7 books a 5-star rating (out of 5). I cannot recommend these books enough, and if you decide to give any a read, I hope that they have an equal or greater impact on you too. 📕 You’re Not Listening: What You’re Missing and Why It Matters by Kate Murphy 📕 Read Write Own: Building the Next Era of the Internet by Chris Dixon 📕 The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness by Eric Jorgenson 📕 Broken Money: Why Our Financial System is Failing Us and How We Can Make It Better by Lyn Alden 📕 The Sovereign Individual: Mastering the Transition to the Information Age by James Dale Davidson 📕 Harvey Penick’s Little Red Book: Lessons and Teachings From a Lifetime of Golf 📕 Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown For a more detailed description of each book please check out the comments below!
