Dear Tony, We're delighted to announce that renowned creative producer and cultural leader Raidene Carter (she/her) has been appointed as Artsadmin's new Artistic Director! Raidene has been developing collaborative and participatory artistic projects within hyperlocal, national and international contexts for over 20 years. She is currently based in Birmingham where she has been the Creative Director of Birmingham Festival 23 and previously Executive Producer for Birmingham 2022 Festival. Originally from Cardiff, she forged a career in London and Birmingham, at the Lyric Hammersmith, Talawa Theatre Company, Birmingham REP, the Albany in Deptford, where she was head of its creative programme, and Theatre Centre, where she was Executive Director and Joint CEO. A message from Raidene: "I’ve always admired Artsadmin’s history, and its bravery to stand up for art of all kinds, but mostly that which leans into discomfort and plays around with what art is and what art is for. I think now couldn’t be a more relevant and appropriate time for us to use this bold legacy to bring even more people – artists, and the curious – together. Huge thanks to Artsadmin’s board, advisors, observers and staff, who have facilitated a thoughtful and care-full recruitment process from start to finish." Hello LinkedIn! As 2024 gets going I wanted to take a leap of faith and let this community know that I am open to ideas, conversations and freelance opportunities alongside my academic work. I am a creative producer, researcher and consultant, and all my work explores the ways in which art, culture and performance catalyse change in the world. In both my research and practice I am driven by questions of care, connection and collaboration, across disciplines and geographies, building communities, and I am exploring new responsive and responsible models of cultural production and leadership. Some of what I love to do and areas of expertise: + Produce: exhibitions, events and conferences, working together artists, communities and stakeholders to develop catalytic experiences that centre justice, care and creativity. >> This year I am working with [OFF/TRACK COLLECTIVE] to bring EASTgoesSOUTH to life: https://lnkd.in/dd8j3tGF + Research: design, deliver and manage international arts-based research programmes in collaboration with academics, communities and policy makers around the world. >> Over the last six months with People's Palace Projects I have been working with Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the wider sector to explore future directions of UK cultural heritage and climate change research. + Consult: work with cultural organisations and creative leaders to envision and establish strategic processes to increase the efficiency and social-impact of creative work. >> Last year this included the design and delivery operational processes for RefractionDAO, creating the solid foundations for a sustainable and impactful web3 cultural organisation.
