#HappyWorldMenstrualHygieneDay Today, May 28th, marks #WorldMenstrualHygieneDay which holds #significant in raising #awareness about the importance of good #menstrualhygiene management and normalizing the discussion surrounding this natural process. I appreciate the changes is see around me in this regard, however, the pace of this change is quite slow. To truly establish clean and #hygienic #menstrual spaces for all, we need to take more proactive measures. Here are some steps that can help from the respective impacting entities (who works for this ecosystem): · #Consumer/ #GOI/NGO: It's crucial to comprehensively educate everyone about #menstruation, which will to a greater extend helps to dismantle the taboos and normalize the conversation around it. · #GOI and Private institutes/organizations: Every washroom should be stocked with #sanitarypads alongside handwash and tissues to support menstrual hygiene. · We must ensure that #menstrualproducts, especially #sanitarypads, are easily available, accessible along with the adequate education on advantage using sanitary product over others materials especially in rural areas. · Brand/Manufacturer/Importer: Menstrual product (for example: Sanitary pads) packaging should include details like: · List of ingredients or highlight potential #allergens · Clear usage instructions, such as the recommended duration for wearing a pad. This information is crucial for every woman. #LabelPadegaIndia Suggestion for Government Initiative: The #MinistryofTextiles issued an order on September 27, 2023, on regulating Reusable Sanitary Pad, Sanitary Napkin, Period Panties under #ISI regime. Mandatory implementation Date is as below: · For all other entities: April 1, 2024. · For small and micro-enterprises (SMEs): October 1, 2024 · However, it is crucial for the #GOI to ensure that the implementation of these regulations does not lead to a significant increase in product costs. Elevated prices may discourage consumers from purchasing these essential products, and this safety rule can get against the women health. As we celebrate World Menstrual Hygiene Day, let's commit to accelerating these changes.
