✨ Celebrating Innovation in Urban Design! ✨ In collaboration with National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA India), the CP Kukreja Foundation for Design Excellence hosted the final jury of the 3rd NASA-CP Kukreja Design Trophy 2024-25 at School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi. This year’s theme, ‘Urban Harmony: Reimagining Community Spaces,’ challenged students to transform underutilised urban spaces into dynamic, sustainable hubs fostering inclusivity and engagement. The event was graced by dignitaries like Arunish Chawla, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Jacqueline Mukangira, High Commissioner of Rwanda, and Architect Ashish Gupta, Chairman of IIA Northern Chapter. As aspiring architects, we were excited to delve into how architecture can be a tool for creating equitable spaces that serve all people, reflect diverse communities, promote social change, and hopefully work towards a world where we don’t have to think which communities are being included while designing but that no one feels excluded from the designs.   Our journey began by reflecting deeply on the brief’s core ideas, discussing the complexities of architectural equity, and how architecture plays a role in shaping and reflecting society’s values. We engaged in extensive research, consulting mentors, seniors, and peers to fine-tune our perspective and ensure our submission addressed these crucial themes. Our collaboration was driven by a shared vision and a passion for thoughtful design that considers both functionality and social impact.   Our final thought came to taking practical examples of equitable and non-equitable designs, and comparing them to see how urban design impacts the users’ life.
