https://lnkd.in/eXw7g6BQ When you hear any show getting cancelled or even REMOVED from streaming, it's the most PAINFUL when it's animation, because it's SUCH an expensive and laborious medium - it's so NOT a genre, and yet the executives may have treated it all as just one of many 'categories' (just as WB is aiming to kill off Cartoon Network in favour of WB's Max streaming platform)! Those shows may have gone on to become future classics if they hadn't been cancelled SO soon - both Seinfeld and SpongeBob SquarePants took YEARS to find a major (adult) audience! The animation for older cartoons is decidedly more primitive than what is available today. Just compare the way mouths move in All-New Super Friends Hour to Merida’s hair flip in Brave. That’s why I’m surprised by the success of MeTV Toons, a new TV channel featuring a wide range of animated characters, from Bugs Bunny to Scooby-Doo. MeTV Toons employs a traditional, ad-supported business model, airing reruns of vintage animations curated by experts. This focused approach allows MeTV Toons to deliver consistent, high-quality content without the risk of sudden removals. Old cartoons? Ads? Next thing you know, people will be purchasing tube televisions that require you to get up to change the channel. Harry McCracken notes that while major streaming services like Max struggle with customer retention despite offering a wide range of content, MeTV Toons succeeds by concentrating on a specific niche.
