Over 80 experts and practitioners met on october 24, 2024 for the «Surface Technology Meets Industrial Reversable Bonding» event in Fribourg of the NTN Innovative Surfaces Association . Debonding mechanisms and end-of-life benefits were demonstrated for many materials systems and wide range of applications, from #packaging materials to components used in #mobility and #windpower airblades, to #wooden_furniture. All success stories showed that, in addition to technological innovations, the alignment of circular objectives with the core competencies of all players along the value chain is crucial. Economic and strategic advantages in the value chain are the key to sustainably accepted solutions. This technology is reshaping mass production, that is why we will discuss its implications, especially in critically stressed applications. Notably, defects in traditional applications, such as cast alloys and weldments, can be invaluable in navigating the challenges of future technologies.
