In HF pts with clinically significant “moderate to severe” functional MR (FMR 3+/4+), MitraClip led to lower HF hospitalization or CV death, and to lower rate of all HF hospitalizations alone thru 24 months, better quality of life with MitraClip vs. GDMT #ESCCongress
#Your_patient is #older than #65yo??👵🏻
This post is important for you 🤝
👉🏻👈🏻 Note: SCr: Serum Creatinine
Whenever you calculate #CrCl using #cockroft_gault_equation for an #elderly patient:
☝️ Always use SCr in mg/dL not mmol/L.
*[mmol/L] / 88.4= [mg/dL]
✌️ If SCr is less than 1mg/dL and patient #age_is_more_than_65, then don’t use this number, instead use 1.
Because elderly may have decreased SCr due to #low_muscle_mass.
#Example: 81yr old male patient,
SCr 66mmol/L
Wt 47kg
Solution:
☝️66/88.4= 0.74 mg/dL
✌️CrCl= ((140-age)*wt)/(SCr*72)
As patient is older than 65y and SCr is less than 1, so use 1 for SCr in the equation
CrCl= ((140-81)*47)/(1*72)
CrCl= 38.5 ml/min
We are back with another Voice of Progress and today, Michael D. is sharing his tVNS® experience!
“Living with IBD, I often faced debilitating pain and discomfort. With regular tVNS® treatment, my symptoms have significantly subsided, allowing me to enjoy activities I love again.”
Here at tVNS®, our mantra is “Better Days are Ahead” – through regular use of our tVNS® device, Michael has been able to manage his IBD symptoms and start to partake in the daily activities that bring him joy again!
There are many devices that claim to heal you through Vagus Nerve Stimulation, however tVNS® is the only non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation device that is certified as a Class IIa medical device under the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR).
Do not take a risk with something as important as your health: choose the only approved option, choose tVNS®.

A CLT may also include other tools and equipment to assist in managing their patients's lymphedema, such as a vasopneumatic compression pump.
During CDT, the therapist will likely teach and establish a home program for their patients involving what was just listed above. How compliant they are will greatly affect their treatment results. This could be the difference between reversing their lymphedema to a Stage 0 status or not.
Keep in mind though, even if they are 100% compliant throughout the therapy process, how extensive and severe their swelling was when they started therapy will still factor into how they respond to treatment.
Something to consider as well is that even if they are not able to fully reverse your swelling by the time they're ready to graduate from therapy, if they continue diligently with their home program, then they may find that over time their swelling will continue to diminish and may become invisible to the eye.
Compliance and consistency are key!

the right type of ACT (airway clearance technique) makes makes a big difference for certain patients #respiratorycare.
only #BCV high frequency chest wall oscillation #HFCWO with the secretion clearance (SC) mode in Biphasic Cuirass Ventilation has built in assisted cough as part of the SC mode cycle.
The therapy also has the added benefit of CNEP mode prior to SC in order to increase FRC prior to the mobilization treatment, effective cough flows are highly dependent on adequate FRC.

Volatile sedation in patients with severe #ARDS in VV #ECMO:
🇪🇸 11 Spanish #ECLS centers
🔍 66 patients on veno-venous support receiving concomitant VS for at least 24 h included
💨 patients requiring IV sedatives or NMBAs diminished
💨 slight increase in tidal volume & P/F ratio + decrease in PEEP found
Introduction of VS can help decrease use of continuous NMBAs & might lead to better oxygenation

The use of cyclical-pressure Topical Wound Oxygen (TWO2) therapy has opened up new opportunities in the durable treatment of DFUs and other chronic wounds, such as venous leg ulcers and pressure ulcers, through the multimodality pressurized delivery of oxygen directly to the wound site.
