Wrapping up another election milestone this week as we complete our 3rd of four elections this year! It’s easy for the days to blend together in our fast-paced environment, especially with our largest election yet just around the corner. To ensure we’re ready for what’s next, I’m focusing on a key aspect of project management from the good ol’ PMBOK. Proper closure isn’t just about finishing tasks—it’s about thorough and systematic wrap-up to ensure all objectives are met and lessons are documented. Here’s my approach: ✅ Administrative Closure: Making sure all administrative and operational work is finalized and our areas are in order. ✅ Formal Acceptance: Recognizing the formal end of the election through our Canvass process. ✅ Lessons Learned: Conducting debriefs with teams and leadership to capture lessons learned and update our organizational process assets. ✅ Celebration: Taking the time to celebrate our achievements and recharge before the next challenge. Here’s to a successful close and a refreshed start as we prepare for November (yes, I do realize it’s July). "The 2024 NACADA Leadership Election voting is NOW OPEN. As an active NACADA member, it is your time to ensure that the NACADA Association has the best and most qualified leaders at all levels of our leadership. Voting will be conducted from April 4 through April 24, 11:59 p.m. (Central Time). Please take a few minutes to cast your votes by following the directions below to access the online voting system." Thank you to all those running for a position in NACADA this year. Your willingness to engage is seen, and appreciated, regardless of the outcome. If you are a member of NACADA, vote. Not just because it is important to have a voice in the direction of NACADA, but because we should be engaged in our profession and the association that supports it. We should be engaged in the profession we are a part of, otherwise, why are we a part of it?  We expect our students to be engaged in their profession, the profession of being a student. How can we not do the same when we expect that of our students? So vote in the NACADA elections. It takes 5 minutes. And, it's good practice for when we find ourselves partaking in all sorts of elections later this year that matter even more for the type of world we want to live in.
