Group urges CMS to address MSSP concerns The National Association of ACOs has submitted comments to the CMS asking the agency to address two major issues within the Medicare Shared Savings Program, which includes the lowering of financial benchmarks over time and the change in the quality reporting process. My colleagues Brent Jensen, FSA, MAAA Jacob Anderson Korye Lockett and I just published a paper looking back at MSSP financial performance from 2022, as well as doing a deeper dive into Pathways to Success, which now affects all MSSP ACOs as of 2022 (transitioning to Pathways begun in July 2019 for renewing ACOs). Many ACOs have considered early renewal of their MSSP contracts in the past (also known as rebasing); based on the results we've observed so far, early renewals have been overall successful. With the standard contract length in Pathways at five years , this may be something more ACOs should consider over the course of their contract length (for instance: to increase the shared savings rate for ACOs achieving higher gross savings; or to reset the benchmarks for ACOs who have had unfavorable experience) https://lnkd.in/gs66V7cF
