Let's talk Mid-Century Modern. Bursting onto the scene from the mid-1940s to the late 1960s and still maintaining popularity in the OC today, these homes feature flat planes, large windows, and open spaces that blend indoor and outdoor living. Mid-Century Modern homes are known for their clean lines, functional design, and harmony with nature. Exteriors use materials like wood, glass, and steel, with minimalistic profiles. Interiors emphasize simplicity and functionality with open floor plans, natural light, and built-in furnishings. Earth tones, muted hues, and bold accent colors create a balanced aesthetic. Notable architects include Frank Lloyd Wright, who pioneered organic architecture, and Joseph Eichler, who popularized modern design for the middle class with his open, glass-filled homes. Palm Springs, California is notorious for its gorgeous Mid Century Modern homes nestled among tall swaying palm trees and stunning mountains. Mid-Century Modern homes remain timeless for their style and thoughtful design. ✨ Throwback to one of our standout projects in beautiful Remuera ✨ A villa home that perfectly blends timeless charm with a sleek, modern contemporary touch. 🏡 Designing this space for a family was a true joy, and reflecting on the details brings so much pride. We worked with dark-stained oak veneer cabinetry, stunning Dekton benchtops, and oak timber floors that flow seamlessly through the living spaces. The gunmetal Italian tap-ware added that perfect touch of elegance, while the crisp Karen Walker Wan White walls created a clean, serene backdrop. 🤍 This project is a testament to how traditional architecture can be elevated for modern living, without losing its character. Seeing it come together, and how it became a modern and functional family space, is what makes what we do so rewarding. 🙌 #InteriorDesignAuckland #LuxuryLiving #InteriorInspo #InteriorDesign #LuxuryHomes #AucklandHomes #ColabIndustry #Renovation #DesignInspiration #HighEndLiving #NewBuild #InteriorGoals

Originating in the 1920s during the affluent era of the Roaring Twenties, Mediterranean-style homes, reminiscent of Mediterranean villas, gained popularity. This period, characterized by a focus on wealth and leisure, saw the emergence of seaside resorts across the United States. These homes, influenced by a combination of Spanish and Italian architecture, found prominence in warm-weather regions such as California and Florida, where Spanish influences were already present. For those who appreciate understated yet elegant spaces, a Mediterranean house is a dream. The exteriors of these homes typically showcase red-tiled roofs, often made of terracotta, along with brick or stucco, commonly painted in white. Stone embellishments, intricately carved doors, and the use of raw iron and metal work on windows, balconies, and front doors are also distinctive features of Mediterranean architecture. The three main styles of Mediterranean style houses: Italian Renaissance: Inspired by structures from the Italian Renaissance, this architectural style is distinguished by the incorporation of columns and rounded arches. Spanish Revival: Drawing from the influence of Spanish colonial architecture, this type of home typically features clean lines and a low-pitched roof for a simple yet elegant appearance. Modern Mediterranean: Blending traditional Mediterranean home characteristics with a contemporary flair, this style emphasizes indoor-outdoor living, expansive open floor plans, and a fusion of Spanish and Italian design influences. #mediterraneanhouse #mediterraneanstyle #mediterraneanarchitecture #dreamhome #luxuryliving #spanishstyle #italianstyle #coastalhome #warmweatherliving #outdoorliving #interiordesign
