How Quickly can you learn Project Planning? The answer is… It depends. It depends on some or all of the following aspects: -  Your exposure and experience in various projects till now (EPC, Oil & Gas, Infra) -  Your interest, i.e. Taking up Project Controls as a career or learning to gain knowledge -  Your environment, i.e. Supportive peers, team work, interaction with seniors & experts, access to project information, exposure to new technologies, training opportunities. -  Your role location (Site, HO, Contractor, Client, Consultant, Manufacturer) -  Your eagerness to learn, struggle, not giving up attitude and grasping power So, How to proceed? -  Begin involving in planning activities, support the planning team, actively participate in planning workshops, risk review meetings, scope optimization sessions, constructibility reviews and model reviews. -  Interact with Engineering team to understand the design criteria, engineering deliverables, their relationships and sequencing. -  Understand the scope of work, study the project documents, contract documents thoroughly, interact often with the project manager and get your queries answered. -  Discuss with procurement, legal, contracts, finance, consultants, licensors, vendors whenever there is opportunity -  Contribute to the progress review meetings, volunteer for responsibilities beyond your job description. -  Request for job rotation in different departments to get hands on experience -  Practice working independently as well as in a team setup, look for opportunities to present recommendations and improvements to client or upper management. -  Work on continuous improvement and development (very important) Do share your views…… #projectplanning #projectcontrols #projectmanagement
