We are honored to be a longtime partner of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival (ASF), supporting their mission to engage, entertain, and inspire through theater. Our investment in ASF's statewide student-matinee program, SchoolFest, enables thousands of students across Alabama to experience the magic of live theater. Through SchoolFest, students enjoy enriched classroom experiences with online study guides, post-show discussions, and the opportunity to engage with professional actors and theater production. By practicing good movie theater etiquette, you can help create a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone in the theater. Don't put your feet up: Avoid putting your feet up on the seats in front of you, as this can be disrespectful and dirty. Be respectful of others: Be mindful of others around you and their movie-watching experience. Keep your voice down and respect the movie's storyline. Stay seated during the movie: Stay seated during the movie, even if you need to use the restroom or get a drink. If you must leave, do so quickly and quietly. #MovieTheaterEtiquette #RespectfulViewing #QuietPlease #NoTalking #NoPhoneZone #MindfulMoviegoer #ConsiderateCinema #SilentSnacks #DistractionFree #PoliteAudience

I have discovered a new form of team builder:
Can I promote a play on here? I'm so thrilled to be a part of the incredible cast of "An Experiment with an Air Pump" at The Island Theater. Opening night is just 4 days away, with performances May 3-12. We've been working hard to make sure we do this script justice—one that fearlessly explores issues of ethics and gender and art and science, and demands its audience do the same. I'm biased, sure, but it really is a great one! If you're in the Jacksonville area, come out to The Island Theater this weekend or next to support me and us and the performing arts. Tickets are on sale now at www.theislandtheater.com. (FYI this show is not for children.)

When the authorities introduce reforms set to drive division into the heart of the community, the people take action in the only way left to them; marching to Exeter to challenge the king and finally be heard. As well as being Exeter Northcott’s welcome return to home-produced drama, The Commotion Time will also be the first production directed for the theatre by our new Creative Director, Martin Berry. This is a great article about the changing face of the arts - and how it has to be based on serving people - not just artists. “We must invent new reasons for people to venture out into the dark and the heat and the traffic to come to our programs. We must develop innovative programs that provide new revenue streams and make us less dependent on unpredictable individual ticket sales and contributed income.”
"Prestigious theaters around the country are pausing and terminating programs and laying off staff. Meanwhile, my theater company is booming. Out of Hand Theater has landed on a model that has tripled our income in four years while moving our neighbors to action on important issues and elevating the role of theater in our community. It’s a win for art, a win for business, and a win for our community, and I want to share it in the hopes that other arts organizations can benefit from it in this time of crisis." -Ariel Fristoe, Out Of Hand Theater
