AI voice technology is evolving rapidly, and opinions are as diverse as the applications. Our recent survey of 1,000 Americans reveals some fascinating insights into the current landscape of AI voices. Key findings: – Surprisingly, 2 in 3 respondents misidentified a human voice as AI. This highlights the increasing sophistication of AI voice technology. – 26% of Americans are cautious about AI voice tech, while 24% are supportive. The remaining 50% fall somewhere in between. – Baby Boomers (29%), Gen Z (28%), and Gen X (26%) express caution, while 27% of Millennials are supportive of AI voice technology. – 60% see improved accessibility as the top benefit, while 69% worry about potential manipulation and deception. – 81% of Americans are concerned about the future impact of AI voice cloning. – 64% believe AI education should be introduced in US school curriculums. – Over half of Americans would be open to listening to a podcast with an AI-generated host. These findings underscore both the promise and challenges of AI voice technology. But as business leaders and early adopters of this technology, it’s clear that we should navigate this landscape thoughtfully, balancing innovation with ethical considerations. Who is the AI Generation? We love to pigeonhole generations, don’t we? But when it comes to AI, it's not just one generation. More and more of us are using AI today, and interestingly, Gartner refers to 2024 in one of its latest reports “Living With the Year Everything Changed,” where it talks about how Generative AI is making people more powerful personally and professionally Although Generation Alpha (currently all those born after 2012) has been nicknamed the AI Generation, because they will grow up using AI like the generation before them uses social media, most generations are using AI more and more frequently. Despite the fact that ChatGPT was only launched in November 2022, today, most generations are using AI directly or indirectly. Baby Boomers are using AI for health monitoring and managing retirement plans. Gen X leverages AI for work automation and enhancing productivity. Millennials use AI for career growth, content creation, and managing their personal finances. Gen Z embraces AI for education, social media enhancement, and gaming experiences. And as I’ve said despite their young age Gen Alpha, are seeing AI as a natural part of their daily lives from learning tools to interactive toys. There are news reports every day about how we use AI in 2024, for example an article published today by the BBC talks about how students are using AI to help them pass exams. They talked to University of Reading researchers who created 33 fictitious students and then used ChatGPT to generate answers to module exams for an undergraduate psychology degree at the institution. They said the AI students' results were half a grade boundary higher on average than those of their real-life counterparts. And the AI essays "verged on being undetectable," with 94% not raising concerns with markers. Making assumptions about generations and their use of AI is a mistake. After all, aren’t we all a part of the AI generation? Oh and by the way AI didn’t write this article but it did come up with the image! How do you use AI? #AIGeneration #AI #Generations #AIin2024 #GenZ #Generationalthinking #GenAlpha #GenerationalCommunication

In what I have to assume is a birthday gift from Common Sense Media to me, we've now got some good insights into the perspective and use of AI from the ones that matter the most: students. My takeaways: They're seeing, feeling, and doing the same things that the adults in their lives are about GenAI. 1) Recognizing that broader access to GenAI is needed to actually leverage the potential it has 2) Approach using it like other tech tools. The frequency, reasoning and goals of GenAI use matter. 3) Hesitancy of use is grounded in awareness. As educators, we haven't done enough yet to address concerns and/or model diverse uses. AI and digital literacy are critical right now. Find the report here: https://lnkd.in/e5B_nDub

In our fast-paced digital age, artificial intelligence is not just transforming our world; it’s reshaping how we see and engage with each other. Bias in AI, whether hidden or overt, is not just a glitch in the system; it’s a reflection of our collective history, prejudices, and oversights. It’s time for AI to not just reflect our world but to help reimagine and rebuild it more equitably. This is our moment to pivot – to transform AI from a mere digital tool to a catalyst for social change. The potential of unbiased AI stretches beyond our imagination. From education systems that adapt to every learner’s needs to hiring practices that see beyond demographics to the heart of talent and potential. This is the future we must shape together, where inclusive #AI and the Algorithm of Equality are the cornerstones of progress and fairness for generations to come. #Mondaymorningcoffee I recently touched on AI inclusion issue in the TIME article. https://lnkd.in/gvTsjyFe Looking at Davos discussions, I can't help but think that the inclusion part is again ignored. So, I am thinking what are the ways we can ensure AI inclusion which social media platforms failed to implement in a way. Inclusion really needs to start from the bottom. From the thinking process, design process and then implementation. Diverse Data Sets: Ensure that the data used to train AI systems is diverse and representative of different demographics. This helps to avoid biases in AI decision-making and ensures that the AI performs well for a wide range of people. Bias Detection and Mitigation: Actively work to identify and mitigate biases in AI systems. This can involve regular audits of AI decisions, using algorithms to detect bias, and refining AI models to reduce bias. Inclusive Design Principles: Use inclusive design principles when developing AI systems. This means considering the needs of people with different abilities, backgrounds, and experiences during the design process.
