Just 1 hour ago, I received an email from Weekday (YC W21), and in all my years of career, I do not remember encountering such a recruitment outreach approach. Although I hadn’t heard of Weekday before, I couldn’t resist exploring their tools and website (https://www.weekday.works/). I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. [Weekday is a platform designed to help companies streamline their hiring processes by connecting them with engineers who have been vouched for by other engineers. This approach leverages peer recommendations to ensure that only high-quality candidates are considered. It also provides an opportunity for engineers to earn passive income by referring or endorsing peers. The company aims to create a more efficient, trusted hiring system and is especially geared towards tech recruitment, facilitating smoother connections between employers and software engineers. How do you handle feedback? Are you happy to receive it or do you get upset once you receive feedback? So, last week was tagged CAREER WEEK at Tech4Dev. It was an awesome and wholesome event. We got to meet(virtually) and hear from the ones who have gone ahead of us in the tech space, and also an opportunity to pitch our projects to prospective clients/investors. My group project came as one of the top 20's 💃💃 and we were to pitch. We pitched and the first judge went all out on us. What??? 🤣 The feedback wasn't that great because it wasn't what we expected but we took it with good faith and moved on. We told ourselves that no one was going to take the feedback personally but as one of the things to be expected in all areas of life if we want to grow. We patted ourselves on the back because a lot of work went into the project. Feedback is not to break you down or tear you apart but to get you on track and widen your mind to become the best version of you. ”Part of the ship, part of the crew!” ⛵ But let's elaborate… Before I got into IT, I had been working for a government company. There I faced a number of cases that highlighted the unprofessional approach of the company. But the worst part is that in this organisation people are afraid to try new things, and that stifles their development. After deciding to change my place of work, the stars eventually aligned and I got an interview at Up4Soft. Ironically, I didn't even expect to be hired and I wasn't nervous at all during the interview, which gave me enough confidence to ace the interview. 👥 After waiting for a while, I got a message from the HR manager saying that I was hired! It was very unexpected and I am immensely grateful to the company for this opportunity. When I had decided to move to IT, I didn't know what to expect, but from the first days I realized that I had made the right choice. There is a supportive and co-operative atmosphere here, where everyone can express their ideas and suggestions. I have met a team that inspires me to grow and develop, which is incredibly motivating. 🔥 I'm proud to be part of this dynamic and innovative company, where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities and successes as a result of teamwork.
