Here are a couple of thoughts for those of you who worry about "mass resignations" from the bureaucracy under Trump. In 2022, the average age of the federal workforce was 47.2. The average age increased by 0.9 years between 2000 and 2022. Nearly 29% of federal employees are 55 or older. Federal employees earn the highest average salaries in Washington, DC, at $137,045 per year. Average federal employee salaries exceed $80,000 in all states. If you have high turnover among Federal employees as a result of them being disgruntled over Trump's election this will have the effect of both reducing the average age of the federal workforce and the average pay as new hires come in at lower pay. I consider both of these developments positive. So, frankly I do not fear the threat of bureaucrats quitting or retiring. As a former HR manager in the government, I can assure you there is no shortage of candidates for high paying government jobs.

🚨🇺🇸 TRUMP OFFERS 2M GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES 8 MONTHS PAY TO RESIGN Pro-Trump narrative: Pres. Donald Trump's federal workforce buyout initiative aims to sweep away an entrenched bureaucracy that has strayed far from the Founders' vision. By dismantling the bloated civil service system — where 42% of managers openly resist presidential directives — the administration seeks to return to a more responsive, efficient form of government. This "rotation in office" approach, championed by Jefferson and Lincoln, promises fresh perspectives and true democratic accountability. Left narrative: In an unprecedented assault on the US civil service, Trump is orchestrating a massive federal workforce exodus through buyouts and reclassifications, threatening decades of institutional expertise. This dismantling of merit-based employment in favor of political loyalty could devastate essential public services while undermining scientific integrity and professional standards. The move risks transforming dedicated civil servants into political pawns, potentially crippling the government's ability to serve its citizens.

Here’s Trump’s offer to federal employees to resign. Sweet. Probably could function just fine if 70% leave. NEW: This is the full buyout memo from the OPM sent to all Federal employees titled “A Fork in the Road.” The pillars of the new Federal government are clearly laid out. If Federal employees wish to resign they simply put “RESIGN” in the subject line of the email they received. The new Government will focus on four pillars: - A return to full physical presence office culture - A high performance environment that demands excellence - A more reduced, streamlined, and flexible workforce that will include downsizings - A high non-negotiable standard of trust, loyalty, and reliability The memo says even if you decide to stay there’s no guarantee you will have your job in the future. If you want to resign you have between Jan 28th - Feb 6th and you will be paid through Sep 30th. “Whatever path you choose we thank you for your service to the United States of America.” A new age is beginning. A new America. https://lnkd.in/gYQ7n_RA

Getting fired by your employer can deal a serious blow to your confidence, your self-esteem, and your finances. As is the case in the vast majority of states, New Jersey employees are presumed to be employed “at will.” In short, this means that they can quit or be fired at any time for any reason that isn’t illegal—or for no reason at all. Surviving the Trump RTO Mandate The Trump administration's recent mandate for federal employees to return to the office full-time is not just a policy change—it's a direct assault on the modern workforce and a blatant disregard for the well-being of millions of Americans. This decision, coupled with baseless accusations and draconian measures, threatens to unravel the fabric of our government institutions and jeopardize the U.S. economy. The Truth Behind the Rhetoric Trump's claim that federal workers are collecting paychecks while neglecting their duties is a dangerous fabrication1. It's a thinly veiled attempt to justify a massive overhaul of the federal workforce, one that could lead to the termination of thousands of dedicated public servants. Economic Fallout The potential exodus of up to 10% of the federal workforce through the "deferred resignation program" is not a cost-saving measure—it's a ticking time bomb for our economy. This mass departure would: 1. Cripple essential government services 2. Erase decades of institutional knowledge 3. Trigger a cascade of job losses in sectors dependent on government operations Assault on Worker Rights The reinstatement of Schedule F is nothing short of an attack on worker protections7. By reclassifying career civil servants as at-will employees, the administration is opening the door to politically motivated firings and a complete erosion of government integrity. Empowering Teams Through Workplace Transition As federal employees face the challenges of returning to full-time office work, we're here to provide practical support and solutions. Our expertise lies in rebuilding team cohesion and managing the stress of this significant transition. Why We're Doing This We believe talent is universal, but opportunity is not. Why Europe urgently needs to prepare for the reality that Trump will be successful in rapidly overturning US democray: Schedule F. “Tens of thousands of civil servants who serve in roles deemed to have some influence over policy would be reassigned as "Schedule F" employees. Those levels of influence included "confidential, policy-determining, policy-making or policy-advocating," the order says. What it means to be given a Schedule F assignment They would lose their employment protections upon re-assignment, making them functionally at-will employees and therefore far easier to fire, Gov Exec reports. It could apply to as many as 50,000 federal workers out of a workforce of more than 2 million” Typically, a president appoints around 4,000 positions upon taking office (something Trump famously fumbled on upon taking office in his first term, as he had not expected actually winning). This time, far from it: as part of Agenda 2025, the ultra-right wings have recruited and trained aggressively loyalist Trumpists for the very purpose of installing them in positions that would be vacated by means of Schedule F leverage. This goes to show that the incoming administration is not only serious, it is extremely well prepared and resourced to rapidly execute on Scheudle F to dismantle democracy in key positions of administrative expertise and decision making. Well explained on last week tonight btw https://lnkd.in/dSyNqGH9 Oh boy.

The U.S. government's buyout program signals a significant shift in federal employment policy, aiming to reduce the workforce while enforcing return-to-office mandates. The offer of extended pay and benefits could incentivize early departures, but it also raises concerns about the impact on public services and long-term institutional knowledge. With national security and immigration roles excluded, this move appears targeted at streamlining non-essential positions. However, critics may argue that it risks undermining government efficiency. Do you think this approach is a smart way to cut costs, or could it create operational challenges down the line?
Breaking: Trump offered federal workers the option to return to the office full time or resign and get paid for the next eight months.
