Traditionally the president-elect would have discussion about who might get through full Senate approval for various roles. This is a positive feature of representative democracy: party center and fringe voices being heard. With the topping of the GOP by staunch maga from 2016, the hemming in longtime SML Mitch and eliminating the large party center the 47th president may try to direct votes. THAT is not the United States of America and that would not be characteristic of our three independent branch system of government! We reach across to negotiate with moderates. At some point maga leaders who supported 40 and 41and even democrat JFK must display appropriate reverence for our most basic democratic traditions in this country. We cannot have a complete takeover of power by a white house. The Senate does not hold the country hostage. The president should not feel comfortable telling the Senate majority what has to happen. Please establish discussion and inter party negotiation. *Op-Ed: How Sanders Exposed the New Anti-Israel Democratic Party* The article discusses Senator Bernie Sanders’ recent actions, including his introduction of resolutions to block $20 billion in U.S. arms sales to Israel, which garnered support from 17 Democratic senators and two Independents. This move is highlighted as indicative of a growing anti-Israel sentiment within the Democratic Party. The author criticizes Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for allowing these resolutions to reach the floor and calls for electoral challenges against those who voted in favor, arguing that such positions undermine Israel’s right to self-defense. *Read more >>>* https://lnkd.in/eRTwXa6Y

https://lnkd.in/ghHqgHDf Motice News Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee introduced a resolution Thursday to amend the U.S. Constitution and allow Donald Trump—and only Trump—to serve a third term as president. The move comes just three days after Trump was sworn into office for a second, non-consecutive term, and it signals the GOP's ongoing dedication to consolidating power around one figure rather than addressing the needs of the working class. The proposed amendment seeks to change the current constitutional text to allow a president to serve three terms. Ratified in 1951, the 22nd Amendment was designed to prevent a repeat of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's four-term presidency, a historical anomaly driven by the extraordinary circumstances of the Great Depression and World War II. Ogles’ amendment, however, would only allow presidents elected to non-consecutive terms to run for a third term; it would not apply to presidents who had served two consecutive terms. Effectively, it would only benefit only Trump. Trump has long hinted at his willingness to break democratic norms, joking about serving beyond two terms and flirting with the idea of a presidency that extends indefinitely. In private meetings with Republican lawmakers and public speeches, Trump has floated the possibility of serving longer, demonstrating his comfort with the idea of eroding constitutional safeguards to maintain his grip on power. The resolution faces slim odds of passing, given the Republican Party’s razor-thin three-seat majority in the House and the constitutional hurdles of ratification. But its introduction serves a symbolic purpose: rallying Trump's base and normalizing anti-democratic proposals in public discourse.

Hmm 🤔 Well Franklin D. Roosevelt served more than two terms from 1933-1945 (12 years is essentially three four-year terms). So it isn't too far-fetched and it has been done before. I think the ultra-left or Constitutionalist Right would be adamantly against it due to its tyrannical flavor. I do understand the concepts. I think it will take time for America to re-establish itself with all the taxes and tariffs to change geopolitically, however, I also couldn't imagine having a three-term-serving president like Woodrow Wilson or, no offense, our previous president. Not only has our economy been in shambles, we did not have Agency to act on certain things we should have a long time ago. Businesses have been failing, look at all the chapter 11 bankruptcies in the last 4 years. I fully welcome the change despite the animosity it has come with. At least now we can be a bit more negotiable. These next 4 years will be interesting.
A Republican House member introduced a resolution Thursday to amend the U.S. Constitution in order to allow President Donald Trump — and any other future president — to be elected to a third term in the White House. Trump "has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation's decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal," said Rep. Andy Ogles, the Tennessee lawmaker who introduced the resolution. "It is imperative that we provide President Trump with every resource necessary to correct the disastrous course set by the Biden administration," Ogles said in a statement.

The recent political conventions have left many questioning the maturity of some candidates. Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, in particular, have been criticized for their childish remarks and lack of inspiration. Trump's speech at the Republican convention was long and boring, offering no real inspiration for delegates. Vance, on the other hand, was busy cleaning up his previous remarks about his own party's candidate. On the other hand, the Democratic convention was a different story. It was a professional program that clearly outlined what Democrats stand for, and it inspired many to volunteer for the campaign. The highlight of the convention was the appearance of Michelle Obama, who left the audience with a memorable line about the job Trump is seeking. The contrast between the two conventions is clear. The R's convention was filled with negativity and lacked inspiration, while the D's convention was filled with positivity and inspiration. What do you think of the contrast between the two conventions? Do you think it will impact the outcome of the election?

House Republicans on the verge of clinching a majority in the next Congress are already taking a victory lap, but their expected slim margin and unruly nature could undercut their efforts to pass President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda. Party leaders, still bruised from infighting over the past two years that led to the ouster of the GOP speaker and embarrassing failed votes, say things will be different this time. The squabbles were exacerbated by the party’s historically small majority this Congress—now at 221 to 213 with one vacancy—and leaders now are bracing for a similarly narrow advantage next year. https://lnkd.in/gV_swh77
