Hello. I have been privileged to work with some fantastic organisations and people in my career so far, all of which has contributed to the knowledge and experience I have built up in HR, but more significantly, Industrial and Employee Relations. In my Industrial/Employee Relations "consultancy" years, which totalled over 2 decades and lasted until the pandemic, I got to experience so much variety in the work I did, the industries I did it in, and the places I had to go to get it done. From the swankiest office in London, to a jeans factory in Cambodia, a mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the heat of Brazil; I have learned so much about people and cultures, but also learned to never take anything for granted and that however bad something seems, there are always others who are worse off. Where are these pearls of "wisdom" going? Well, nowhere of any value, I am sorry to say! But, I was thinking about what excuse I can come up with to write a post to publicise my website, which is now live, and thats what came out! I am offering myself to work with Employers to give support, guidance and even training, on all matters relating to Industrial Relations, Employee Relations, Collective Bargaining and the like. And my website is at: andycook-er.com so please do have a look. It really helps with the analytics if nothing else. And of course, please get in touch. Thank you Andy PS - coming soon - the IR Guru Podcast, hosted by myself and Nick Dalton, featuring interviews with key people from within Industrial and Employee Relations. #industrialrelations #employeerelations #humanresources #hr #collectivebargaining #business #tradeunions

Do I know you? The process of truly knowing someone is complicated, especially in Human Resources. It's a beautiful field where everyone has a unique perspective on it. I'm particularly interested in people who are passionate about this field and are willing to talk extensively about it. I'm currently working on a new project and I'm looking for people who share my passion for HR. Suppose you think you can understand me based on what I've shared. In that case, if you feel that you can contribute to the project, and if you're not solely interested in my credentials or qualifications, CVs, etc., we can explore the possibility of working together. I want to connect with people who share my passion and who can help me grow professionally. I want to learn from my mistakes and offer solutions when needed. Ultimately, I want to use my experience to help others and make a positive impact in the field of HR. My goal is to create a project that goes’’ Beyond communication and skill’’ and can successfully navigate any challenges that come our way.

Happy International HR Day. Reema Gajjar I have seen your professional and personal growth since your first job to latest job. I know what it takes to be HR and solve day-to-day operational challenges, employees frustration, salary issues and what not. HR role is less or not appreciated and some companies take it for granted sometimes. But, I must say that you are doing an excellent job as HR leader. Keep Rocking. #HRMotivation

Don’t be in a rush to climb that corporate HR ladder If you are enroute for a career as an HR generalist, I know you are probably dreaming about that next big promotion and reaching for your next career milestone I know you are watching your more senior colleagues and wishing you were getting some of that action too However, it is important to take everything you can from every step in the journey and focus your time and efforts on where you currently are As an HR generalist there is a very clear path from junior to senior roles, and you really do need to complete each step or learn the foundations from each step to prepare you for the next Let’s be honest, some of the tasks in the junior roles can be a bit mundane at times (thank goodness for mail-merge and coffee) Or you may be itching to have a go at some of the more 'meaty' stuff So to help motivate you, rather than thinking about the tasks and duties of each role, think about the skills and competencies you are growing and developing instead Here are some that you should be focusing on as you advance in your HR career - what would you add? 👇🏻
