In the pursuit of improved performance tires with enhanced wet traction, the tire industry has pushed the levels of silica in tread compounds. Driving the compound to ever higher silica loadings brings with it new challenges relating to processability and flocculation. Building on previous work, the authors will illustrate how novel additives from Polymer Solutions Group can be leveraged to maximize silica dispersion at high loadings while optimizing processability and performance.
