Excited to share that my paper titled "Smartphone-Based Pothole and Speed-Breaker Detection System" has been published in the proceedings of the International Conference on Human-Centric Smart Computing (ICHCSC). Potholes on roads pose a significant challenge, causing damage to vehicles and posing risks to drivers. In this research, we've introduced a groundbreaking method for pothole detection using smartphone accelerometer data. By leveraging low-cost sensors and machine learning algorithms, our approach automates the identification of potholes, making the process faster and more cost-effective. Our findings suggest that this approach could revolutionize pothole detection, leading to improved road conditions and safer driving experiences. By demonstrating the feasibility of using accelerometer data for automation, we're paving the way for future research in this crucial area. ST recently released the LSM6DSV32X, which is nearly identical to the LSM6DSV16X but features a 32g accelerometer, thus opening the door to asset tracking, free fall, and shock detection applications. It still features a finite state machine and machine learning core, among other things. In the UK alone, Hitachi collects around 50,000 data points every 1/5 of a second - and it operates in over 50 countries. That’s an enormous amount of complex data that needs lightning fast collection and analysis. AI has proved its worth in this area time and again, but to keep pace with the demands of vast rail networks, systems need top of the range hardware.
