Leading the transformation into more sustainable marine solutions… in facts.
Infineum is thrilled to be partnering with MariNH3 on a five year research programme into green ammonia fuel for high efficiency and ultra-low NOx emissions. The programme aims to revolutionise marine vessel engines and cut greenhouse gases. We will be evaluating lubricant performance in ammonia-fuelled engines to create a cleaner, sustainable maritime industry with future proof additive solutions. Best of luck to my colleagues Pete and Hellen, and to our partner MariNH3! #Maritime #NetZero #EmissionReduction #Collaboration #InnovativeChemistry

What a great start to #NACW2024, catching up with George John Arayath and Dan Linsky. These guys represent the organizations behind Wren’s Adipic acid nitrous oxide abatement project. Adipic acid is needed for the production of nylon. Although we hope for a future where we’re less reliant on synthetic materials, the reality is that nylon is still a critical component in items such as seatbelts, airbags, and other safety materials. An unfortunate by-product of adipic acid is N₂O, a greenhouse gas 265× more harmful than CO₂, and there are currently no economic or regulatory incentives for firms to reduce their N₂O emissions. That’s why we’re thrilled to support Ascend Performance Materials as they lead the way in nitrous oxide abatement, implementing technology to reduce N₂O emissions with technical support from ClimeCo. Want to catch up with me while I’m at NACW? Drop me a note and let’s chat! #CarbonMarket #ClimateSolutions

Finding the right technology will be key, although a pathway of multiple technology routes still is our best way ahead
Senior Vice President @ bp I Innovation Executive I Low Carbon Technology Leader I Digital Sciences I Board member
JM and bp’s award-winning Fischer-Tropsch CANS™ technology has been chosen by DG Fuels for the world’s largest FT SAF production plant. The plant will be based in Louisiana, US and would be the largest deployment of FT CANS technology to date, seven times larger than any previously announced FT CANS project. This plant will produce 13,000 barrels per day of sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF. I am thrilled to see the innovation led by bp and Johnson Matthey technology teams to develop FT CANS™ is enabling scaling-up of SAF globally. Congratulations to DG Fuels and bp / Johnson Matthey team - Michele Pesa, Noemie Turner, Maurits van Tol Read more: https://bit.ly/3PSEH3h

With ambitious climate goals, TORM is committed to achieving significant reductions in emissions by employing efforts in operational behavior and collaboration as well as technology development. Our One TORM platform provides detailed insights into each vessel’s energy consumption patterns, enabling managers to identify and share best practices which promote energy efficiency and quickly implement corrective actions, when necessary. But when fighting climate change, very few people, or companies, can do much on their own. In 2019, TORM and other partners established ShippingLab, backed by grants from several organizations including Innovation Fund Denmark and Den Danske Maritime Fond (The Danish Maritime Fund). Here, we cooperate with universities, industry partners, and vendors. A collaboration, which has led to the development of our hull performance monitoring system, massively improving our ability to analyze and predict the performance status of our vessels, forming the basis of our CO2 saving initiatives. #OneTORM #sustainability #co2emissions #Shipping

We are now delighted to announce our involvement in the CHAMP2 (Clean Hybrid Alternative Marine Powertrain) project as part of the third round of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition (CMDC3), which is funded by the UK Government (Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom) and delivered in partnership with Innovate UK. Led by our colleagues at PurpleSector, and supported by a wide variety of partners from across the industry and academia, CHAMP2 aims to provide the maritime sector with data-driven solutions that will help to inform future technology and fuel choices for operators in the industry. Serco will be playing the role of an operational partner in the project, providing access to the vessels that we operate on behalf of our customers and supporting PurpleSector with proving that alternative powertrains or 'fuels of the future' can indeed meet operators' requirements in the present day. As part of the CMDC3, the Department allocated £60m to 19 flagship projects supported by 92 UK organisations to deliver real world demonstration R&D projects in clean maritime solutions. Projects will take place in multiple locations around the UK from as far north as the Shetland Isles and as far south as Cornwall. The CMDC3 is part of the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emission’s (UK SHORE) flagship multi-year CMDC programme. In March 2022, the Department announced the biggest government investment ever in our UK commercial maritime sector, allocating £206m to UK SHORE, a new division within the Department for Transport focused on decarbonising the maritime sector. UK SHORE is delivering a suite of interventions throughout 2022-2025 aimed at accelerating the design, manufacture and operation of UK-made clean maritime technologies and unlocking an industry-led transition to Net Zero. The CHAMP2 project will run until March 2025 and we are looking forward to continuing to collaborate with the other project partners to work towards the UK Government's Net Zero targets in the coming years.
