The importance of context came up repeatedly in my conversation with BROWNE LORD OF MADINGLEY at ONS two weeks ago. Without context, what you'll generate is a hallucination. Context must be read constantly as it's always dynamic. I couldn't agree with him more. My business is all about helping you get a new perspective - at a personal, industry or global level - thus allowing you to make better decisions. Lord Browne and I talked about many other things as well. Here are some of my key takeaways: - Understanding and maintaining your principles is vital. Those remain even as the context and circumstances change. They direct your choices and behaviour. - On leadership, what is your purpose? As Lord Browne said, how he makes things happen is all about risk and the need to carry people with him. Even as the leader has the casting vote, leadership is all about inclusion in all the steps in the process. As leader you need to provide the boundaries and ask a big enough question for people to be involved. - How do you prioritise? Assess the question, the answer for which will move you forward. We finished talking about progress being all about optimism. This is how good business, and good life, is done. This is a conversation worth listening. There is so much content here.
