The best advice I was given for writing a book... Less is more. I know that sounds counter-intuitive from previous advice. But as attention spans shorten, it is hard for people to consume content. And books weren't made to steal people's attention like social media. People had to put in focus in order to retain information from books. That is why I intentionally designed my book to be short. Check out my Substack if you want to understand more about why I published a short book. https://lnkd.in/gxD9Medb

Fear is the #1 reason people don’t write books. People get stuck writing books because their fears take over. Fear is like a wall. Fear creates a wall around your dream to write a book, yet we can succeed when we find ways to break down the walls. 🔽 Here's how to beat fear 🔽

£200 in books, or £100 cash. What would you take? I occasionally do some book reviewing for Bloomsbury Publishing Plc and (in the interest of transparency) this is what they've offered this time. I've just accepted the £200 in books, thinking I'll send some writing books to clients or do a LinkedIn giveaway (just incase my husband is reading this and is worried about the imminent arrival of yet more books). What would you go for: books or cash? And any favourite writing books from Bloomsbury you'd recommend? #bookreview #writingbooks #stillwriting

"Writing an expert book on my niche subject is just about writing down all my ideas." No Not if you want to make a book that is read and whose ideas are implemented by its readers Not if you want a book that is recommended by its readers Not if you want a book that is reread and whose pages are dog-eared and underlined because it holds so much for the reader. YOUR experiences and learnings, are too varied and too many…some are interconnected, some are backstories and some are not needed for this book. Writing is about finding your reader... Writing for your reader... Through each and every page.

I wonder if my book club hates me... Do you also find that the more you learn about craft the more you can predict the outcomes of stories, whether it's a book or a movie or a show? You can learn so much from watching and reading and the more you know, the more the structures and techniques of writing will show up in your own writing--or at the very least you'll better recognize when they aren't showing up and then you can fix them. Confession time: Read the full post for some ways I've ruined stories for my family! As authors, we know that books are more than just words on paper. They are the quietest and most constant of friends, offering comfort in moments of solitude and understanding when no one else can. Every page we write has the potential to become that trusted companion for someone else. Most importantly, books are the most patient of teachers. They wait quietly, ready to share their lessons whenever someone is ready to learn. As authors, we must remember that our words, no matter how long the process, have the power to teach, inspire, and uplift others. So keep writing, keep creating. You are crafting more than just stories—you are building lasting friendships with your readers and leaving a legacy of wisdom and growth. Stay inspired, keep pushing forward, and remember: your book could be the constant friend someone is waiting to meet. ✍️💡 #AuthorLife #WritingCommunity #WritersOfInstagram #BooksAreMagic #LiteraryWisdom #KeepWriting #CreativeJourney #AuthorInspiration #Storytellers #WritingMotivation #BookLovers #BookishCommunity #AuthorGoals #BookWriting #InspireThroughWords #PublishedAuthor #WritersBlock #ReadMoreBooks
