🌱 How can we cultivate a culture of inquiry, particularly in schools, where the seeds of curiosity are first planted? In this week’s Substack, I’m diving into the power of #inquiry-led learning—an approach that nurtures curiosity and inspires deeper engagement in education. Drawing on the brilliant work of Trevor MacKenzie, Kath Murdoch, and Jessica Vance, I’m exploring how we can create spaces where curiosity and inquiry thrives. Having developed inquiry-led practice at schools such as The King Alfred School, and having been introduced to Trevor, Kath, and Jessica’s inspiring approaches through Becky Carlzon's Learning Pioneers, I’m passionate about the potential of inquiry. It’s a core principle we’re integrating into the secondary school we’re developing in South West London, alongside Guy Claxton’s #LearningPowerApproach. This is no small feat. With education systems often tethered to conventional (and dare I suggest it out-dated) methods of teaching and learning, we are joining innovative schools like The New School UK, Lumiar School UK, Atelier 21 Future School in championing more #inclusive and dynamic approaches in #education. "The Lost Art of Grandfather's Storytelling A Key to Unlocking Human Potential" 📚 There was a tradition in the older generations where all the people of the village used to gather around and listen to the stories told by the older generation. 📚 These were not fictional stories, but were the experiences of their times, telling us about how they got to experience the various situations around the society in which they lived. 📚 Grandparents' generation were the founders who not only taught how to tell the stories but through their stories, they shaped the personalities of the various generations. 📚 The same storytelling we need in the educational structures where stories will be delivered by the teachers to the students.
