Would you like to know more about the competence of different #EqualityBodies to make recommendations in relation to legislation, policy, and policymaking systems? 🔎 Focus on Croatia: "There is a requirement on bodies to whom such recommendations have been made to notify the Equality Body (Pučka pravobraniteljica / Ombudswoman, Ombudsman for Persons with Disabilities and Ombudsperson for Gender Equality), within the time limit set by the Equality Body, of the measures undertaken as a result of the proposal or recommendation made. Where there is a failure by the body to notify the Equality Body, the Equality Body can seek action from the institution that has a supervisory function in relation to that body. Where the supervisory institution fails to act the Equality Body can notify the government." 📖 Find more case studies in our perspective ⬇️ 🔗https://lnkd.in/dXUyxFzj

Happy International Women's Day! Let's celebrate the progress we've made so far and continue pushing for change. The WGEA gender pay gap reports have revealed some shocking statistics, but they are holding businesses accountable and leading to positive change. Additionally, the recent government announcement of a 12% super contribution to paid parental leave payments from July 2025 is a step in the right direction. Here's to hoping that 2024 brings even more progress for gender equality. #InternationalWomensDay #GenderEquality #EqualPay #PaidParentalLeave

In the quest for gender equality, the issue of equal pay has become one of the most prominent and widely debated subjects. The persistent female wage disparity serves as a stark reminder that attaining pay fairness is not just a question of law or policy, despite legislative advances and growing awareness. The problem is intricately linked to political and cultural beliefs that have long shaped ideas about gender roles, labour, and pay. Understanding and addressing these attitudes is essential to closing the wage gap and achieving true equality in the workplace. So why not have a read of Vridhi Mathur’s recent article: Cultural and Societal attitudes toward pay! 💰 https://lnkd.in/e9RbvdW4 #readnow #equalpay #thestudentlawyer
