Meet Luca🧡💙 With our summer distribution fundraising campaign underway we met with our Logistics Manager, Luca, to discuss the upcoming summer clothes distribution. Luca shared: “In the last few weeks, the weather has changed rapidly on Samos and we have seen that people are less interested in winter clothing. We are preparing to start the summer distribution to ensure that people receive the clothes that they want but also need to stay cool in the summer heat. 2 years clean! Two years ago, I spent a few minutes removing a lot of graffiti from this National Cycle Network sign in Edinburgh city centre to make it legible again. Since then I’ve been noticing how long it has stayed clean. That’s my kind of fun - one year was exciting enough but two years has almost blown my tiny mind. This is the power of microvolunteering – a small act can have a big impact. It’s something Sustrans has been building into their spectrum of volunteering for some time through Quick Ways to Volunteer, and now through the Action Team (https://lnkd.in/ew7VdvP5). Because it’s something more people are looking for in their volunteering. As a recent article on flexible volunteering in Pro Bono Economics reminds us, time pressures are the biggest barrier for charities' engaging volunteers - “In a changing world, where people are constantly being pulled in so many different directions, the sector needs to harness its flexible and adaptable nature in its approach to volunteer recruitment and retention – because that’s what volunteers are seeking. Potential volunteers want to see flexible opportunities and assurances that they can give back to their communities in small ways at first, which don’t overwhelm their already stretched time.” And, yes, I know, I missed a bit of the purple paint. The latest report from The Generosity Commission spotlights the transformation and expansion of the giving landscape.   As business leaders, funders, and mentors, I believe it is important that we embed a culture of giving, volunteering, and impact investing into our companies' ethos to support a future of generosity.   As Jerre Stead shares, "Generosity that results in lasting change needs to be approached from multiple angles—philanthropic giving, impactful volunteering, thoughtful investments, and strong advocacy."

Yea it’s a five minute video, who watches those anymore! However, if you followed us over the course of Serve Week 2024 (The Ocho) this is an awesome wrap up and great work by the team. We try and use LinkedIn to open a window into our culture. And while Foundry Commercial isn’t perfect and we will always have work to do in pursuit of our standards, I think this is one of the things we get really right. We are a services company and spending time with these amazing organizations, which we encourage you to check out and support, reminds us what true service looks like. It is a week where we try to give back and we always end up getting so much more than we give.
