A hot topic at the IMPA Congress in Rotterdam this week. Interesting news from PTR Holland Group about what can be done to improve the safety of pilot transfer arrangements. We hope the revised SOLAS regulation V/23 will make this type of approach mandatory when ships need to secure pilot ladders at intermediate lengths. Our thanks to Nicola Symonds and nC2 Engineering Consultancy for presenting the results of the study that led IMPA to conclude that relying on hitches and shackles is no longer good enough. #impa #internationalmaritimepilots #theinternationalpilot
Coming soon, no more rolling hitch or shackles required for intermediair securing of your pilot ladder, tested with 52kn each side, solely on the ropes.👍🏻👍🏻 more info soon 👌🏻

Really important pilot that can help shape the future of road safety.
We need your help make Irelands roads safer. The Department of Transport and Transport Infrastructure Ireland are delivering an on-road pilot of connected vehicle technology that will enable safety alerts to be sent in real time directly to drivers. We are calling for 1500 volunteers to participate in an on-road pilot project which will test the technology. 🔗 Join the pilot at cits.tii.ie. 📺 https://lnkd.in/eWHfXz5W

We're thrilled to see the BBC highlight maritime pilots using our cutting-edge BMT REMBRANDT navigation simulator in Liverpool! At BMT, our #REMBRANDT technology stands at the forefront of vessel and port modelling, providing unparalleled precision and realism. From design and port access to berthing studies and marine incident investigations, our system offers versatile applications across the entire maritime sector. This BBC feature showcases how maritime pilots are leveraging our advanced, immersive bridge systems to master highly complex manoeuvres. Through their demo practices and the use of BMT's REMBRANDT simulator technology, they can engage in realistic and challenging scenarios, improving their skills and ensuring maritime safety. Notably, the UK Ministry of Defence utilises our simulators for Admiralty Pilot and Tug Master training, ensuring they master challenging manoeuvres and alternative berthing strategies for the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers. Our innovative platform, powered by next-generation S-100 hydraulic data, delivers step changes in e-navigation and situational awareness, setting the standard for maritime training and safety. By unlocking the power of information through these advanced shared data standards, we are achieving a transformative impact across maritime markets. As Dr. Phil Thompson, Head of Commercial Product Development at BMT, states, “Our talented software team’s fusion of top-tier hardware and REMBRANDT software platform exemplifies the very best of pilot training facilities.” Read more about this story on BBC: https://bbc.in/4aMVlJ9 #MaritimeInnovation #CyberBridge #NavigationTechnology #MaritimeSafety”
