Building Better Regions Community of Practice coalitions across the country are opening doors to more innovation and economic progress than ever before. In Portland, the Oregon Mass Timber Coalition is working with its partners to complete the Oregon Acoustics Research Laboratory at the Port of Portland's Mass Timber and Housing Innovation Campus. This will provide critical space for acoustics testing, making it easier to get approval for residential mass timber construction. 

New + exciting progress on the Oregon Acoustics Research Laboratory (OARL) facility being built at the Port of Portland's Mass Timber and Housing Innovation Campus at Terminal 2✨ Lack of acoustics testing facilities is widely recognized as a barrier to the development of affordable mass timber multi-family assemblies in North America. The OARL will open doors for jurisdictional code approval in the adoption of mass timber products in the residential construction market - while supporting the Oregon mass timber ecosystem🌲

The University of Oregon's project to construct the Oregon Acoustic Research Laboratory (OARL) is gaining momentum! The Port of Portland's Mass Timber and Housing Innovation Campus will be the home of the completed facility. UO's OARL will be a state-of-the-art facility for conducting acoustic tests of mass timber assemblies to support the expansion of the mass timber industry - the first of its kind in North America.

At the International Retrofit Conference, Rob Morrison announced the relaunch of Retrofit Scotland and its ultimate mission. Delivered by BE-ST, the programme will connect industry leaders, academics, community groups, and government partners, to work together on practical ways to improve Scotland’s built environment.
