Since the GFC, which technically ended in 2009, we've witnessed what one can describe as ongoing "emergency" FED/government intervention. As this article titled, "Why Is the Government Encouraging a Taxpayer Bailout?", rightly points out, this has created a long cycle of "privatizing gains and socializing losses".
