Ukraine confidently holds the second place in the world charity ranking! 🇺🇦 Our efforts are growing every year, and it's truly impressive! At the beginning of 2023, we were at the 10th spot, but now our country is recognized as the second most charitable in the world! These data are the result of surveys conducted by the global company Gallup World View. According to the survey and assessments, Ukrainians scored 62 points, while the leader of the ranking, Indonesia, scored 68 out of 100 possible. This indicates that more and more of our compatriots are engaging in charity, donating, supporting, and not remaining indifferent. 🤝 Kenya secured the "bronze," followed by Liberia, and the United States rounds out the top five. It's worth noting that Russia and Belarus were not included in the ranking. Overall, 72% of the world's population, or 4.2 billion people, contribute to charity. The year is closing and I am standing at the crossroads... Both in my work-life & in my personal one... During my 1 year contract at Caritas Spiš / Spišská katolícka charita I organized a 2 day international workshop for NGOs in risk assessment & crises management & helped in organizing the whole Slovakian Pilgrimage of Charities and the 1st Beneficial Concert of Caritas Spiš / Spišská katolícka charita I launched their 1st public campaign calling for 2 % of taxes (and prepared the one for next year) based on a deep dive research and survey results on successful NGO marketing stategies and public perception of charitable organizations; and several smaller fundrasings for seniors, severelly handicapped children & the socialization and independent living of the clients - raising thousands of euros. I helped to get support for the humanitarian aid to Ukraine, Turkey & Syria, both financial & material. I was successful in creating active cooperation based on voluntarism & team building offers with several companies and engaging more individual donors. Playing an active part in several projects (EPH, Interreg, NEXT schemes) I applied for & got funding from foundation grants too; To stay in touch with new approaches & tools in PR, marketing & project work I kept on widening my knowledge on seminars & via online courses. By posting on social media and taking part in meetings and presentations (both formal & informal) I tried to raise the brand awareness of Caritas Spiš / Spišská katolícka charita ... I found the job a fine challenge and a meaningfull undertaking. In more than one aspect it helped me to regain my faith in people whose life journeys and personal sacrifices show what we are in the first place - HUMANS. MPI pledges support to the Maui events community through localized relief and extensions to the Hawai’i membership community, thanks to the MPI Foundation. In the wake of the fires that devastated portions of western Maui, Meeting Professionals International is donating $5,000 to the Maui Strong Fund, established by the Hawai’i Community Foundation. Working with the Hawai’i Visitors and Conventions Bureau and Meet Hawai’i, MPI will seek to direct those funds specifically towards impacted individuals within the tourism and hospitality community. It’s imperative that we offer support so they can continue taking advantage of the benefits related to MPI membership during this challenging time. We also want to ensure our community of meeting and event professionals are aware that areas in Maui unaffected by the wildfires (including Kahului, Wailuku, Wailea, Mākena, Pā’ia, and Hāna) remain open for business. As do other islands within the state, such as Kaua’i, O’ahu, Lāna’i, Moloka’i and Hawai’i Island. Tourism and business events are critical economic drivers for the state of Hawai’i and Maui specifically, accounting for 70% of its local economy. The community, state, and federal response plan for Lahaina is now in full swing, bringing hope, resilience, and much-needed funding to those affected on Maui. The donations and fundraising are well received, greatly appreciated, and being distributed by several groups who are diligently working non-stop. However, it will be months, years, of recovery for most of West Maui.   As the focus is on recovery and rebuilding, let's not forget the areas of Maui that remain unaffected and need your support as tourism drives the island economy.
