Despite a near-50% wage increase offer from the USMX, the ILA rejected the deal, citing automation concerns and insufficient wage protections. Xeneta's Peter Sand warns of severe knock-on effects, with vessels already en route unable to divert, causing future shipment delays and significant port congestion.   🌍 Port Strikes Spread to Montreal as Dockworkers Shut Down Key Terminals USEC and Gulf Coast ports aren’t the only ones striking this week. Dockworkers at the Port of Montreal, represented by CUPE Local 375, have announced a strike that will close two key terminals—Viau and Maisonneuve—from Monday at 7am until Thursday 3 October at 6.59am.
