Some pictures from Skyridge Glamping, our first location, from a recent site visit by two of our Co-Founders, Edward Haynes and Nick Purslow. Great progress is being made on the property, with roads, parking spots and unit pads all in place. Skyridge is a stone’s throw from the Banff and Lake Louise corridor. World-class skiing, hiking, golf and an immensely popular Nordic spa are all on the doorstep. We look forward to providing more updates in due course!

The ski patrol strike at Vail Resorts Park City has brought the super high cost of downhill resort skiing into sharp focus (not to mention the ridiculously long lift lines). How are the good folks at organizations like Share Winter Foundation supposed to get more people skiing when a single ski day for a family of four can exceed $1,500? The reality is that there are more affordable and accessible downhill ski options outside of the big resorts. The The New York Times just came out with a list of "6 Mountains Where You Can Ski for Less" (I'll add the link in the comments... but there's a paywall). These are still mainly bigger resorts. What are YOUR favorite bargain ski hills? #OutdoorIndustry

Today we have another special word for you 👀 And that is “Friluftsliv”, which means enjoying time #outdoors no matter what the weather is like. This concept is as much a part of Norway as cross-country skiing. It is part of Norwegian #culture and it is also a #lifestyle, as well as an outdoor activity (for example hiking), mostly in the wilderness ⛰. #Explika #uniqueword #translation

The discussion around hospitality season extension is in full swing. While I highly respect the excellent work of Heinz Hunkeler and his Kulm Hotel St. Moritz team, it is very interesting that Forbes Forbes Travel Guide features this iconic grand hotel as a late summer destination that already closes its summer season doors on 8 September. Can this be real? 💡If you are interested in learning how to make the most out the off-season business and want to learn how to extend seasons, have a look at my recent publication that you find under comments. #hospitality #luxury #innovation #futurereadiness #viabledesign
We are delighted to have been featured in Forbes as the ideal destination for late summer mountain vacations! "Swiss mountain village St. Moritz may be synonymous with skiing, but late summer is an absolutely splendid time to visit too. You can be just as active in the mountains, enjoy the magical vistas of the Engadin, and best of all, escape the scorching summer heat." Thank you Rana Good for the wonderful feature. Yes skiing can be family-friendly and luxurious, but it is also risky to varying degrees. That's true of that blue run you just dragged your rookie boyfriend up without a lesson, and it's also true of the steep avalanche terrain that you're standing on top of waiting for the rope to drop. https://lnkd.in/daNYzkkf. Every year in the United States alone, an average of just over 40 people lose their lives on the slopes as a result of accidents in skiing and snowboarding, … https://lnkd.in/d3UxSNtf. What are the most common skiing injuries? As a higher-risk yet popular sport, overall injury rate from skiing is close to one injury per 1,000 days skied.
