Great example of how crisis response models for any community is never “this/or” but “both/and”. Even for a community that is known for their highly innovative non-law enforcement response, they were able to address a need in their response plan by adopting another complimentary model. Instead of ditching one for another and starting all over again, Eugene OR chose to see how both models can be distinct yet correlating, each working together for the needs of the same community. Awesome read.

I simplify the complex world of insurance to help you protect what matters most to CREATE, BUILD and PROTECT your legacy
This article isn't my usual focus on local business, but it marks the first step in bolstering law enforcement services in Grand Terrace, benefiting both businesses and residents. We still need to do much more because the current staffing level of one deputy/patrol unit per shift is inadequate. Much more needs to be done to ensure the safety and security of our community. #GrandTerrace #publicsafety #sbcsd

Southeastern University Student | Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice/Legal Studies | SEU Honors Student | SGA Associate Justice |
Day 3: Over the course of this semester, I’ve been studying victimology, and I’m excited to share some of the insights I’m gaining. This course has given me a deeper understanding of how the criminal justice system can better support victims of crime. Victimology goes beyond simply examining the crime itself—it emphasizes the personal, emotional, and psychological impacts that victims endure, as well as how they interact with law enforcement, the courts, and rehabilitation services. One key takeaway from my studies is that victims should not be passive participants in the justice system. By giving them a voice—through victim impact statements or advocacy programs—we can help shape policies that prioritize victims' rights and support their recovery. Another important aspect is recognizing that there are many different types of victims. While some may be directly affected by a crime, others may be indirectly impacted, such as family members, witnesses, or even entire communities. Understanding these experiences is crucial for creating a more compassionate justice system. I look forward to continuing my exploration of how these insights can contribute to developing legal frameworks that not only meet victims' needs but also ensure a fair justice system.
