💡 💡 💡 Have you heard about "The Apprentice"? This provocative new film starring Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump and Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn is making waves, but not just for its performances. Despite critical acclaim, the movie faced numerous legal challenges and roadblocks to distribution. This situation raises important questions about artistic expression, freedom of speech, and the power dynamics in media. In short: • The film explores the early career of Donald Trump and his relationship with Roy Cohn • It's directed by Ali Abbasi and has received positive reviews at film festivals • Legal threats have complicated its release and marketing efforts As professionals, we often discuss innovation and disruption. But what happens when art disrupts? Should powerful figures be able to influence what stories are told about them/and when these stories should be released? I believe it's crucial to engage with challenging content, especially when it makes us uncomfortable. After exercising your right to vote today, why not continue your civic engagement by watching "The Apprentice"? It's now in theaters, offering a chance to form our own opinions on an important piece of our political history. With minimal marketing, it's a unique opportunity to explore thought-provoking cinema. Let's celebrate both our democracy and artistic expression! Have you seen it? What are your thoughts on the balance between artistic freedom and the rights of public figures? #TheApprentice #FreedomOfSpeech #MediaLiteracy #Streaming #ElectionDay ✨ 🎬 📽️

Why do people love football so much? From not even being included in the Panhellenic Games (the Olympics of that time) To being one of the first sports in the world to contribute to globalization I was curious as to what about football united people so much and led to mass adoption and participation. For me, this quote from David Goldblatt's book, The Ball is Round, answers it all, "It offers the spotlight for individual brilliance while relishing the defiance and heart of collective endeavor. It has staged tragedy and comedy, epic and pantomime, unsophisticated music hall and inaccessible experimental performances. It does imperious triumph, lucky escapes, impossible comebacks and stubborn stalemates. It captures the brilliance of unpredictability, the uncertainty of the human heart and human skill, of improvisation and chance." In the end, it all comes down to how it makes one feel that creates the multiplier effect and leads to mass adoption.

more reason that #EVERYONWILLBEWATCHINGWOMENSSPORTS Small screen to BIGGER SCREENS, there is powerful reasons they will. BRANDS are you paying attention? #THEFIREINSIDE #CLARESSASHIELDS #BARRYJENKINS #WOMENWHOFIGHTFORGOOD "The story of the boxer Claressa Shields could have been just another sports movie. Directed by Rachel Morrison and penned by Barry Jenkins, it’s much more than that." "Two years before the Flint Water Crisis became national news, a teenage boxer named Claressa Shields, who was born and raised in Flint, won a gold medal at the London Olympics. It was 2012, the first year that women could box at the Olympics, and at 17, Shields was the youngest boxer there. She blew the competition away — and four years later, she’d do it again, becoming the only American boxer, regardless of gender, to pull off that feat. "So the question the film presents is this: What if you win, and it seems like it doesn’t matter? What if the world doesn’t value your kind of winning? "Contemporary sports coverage — especially during the Olympics — relies on telling inspiring stories so audiences connect with the athletes. But stories can be a double-edged sword. This fact is subtly woven throughout “The Fire Inside,” and it’s magnified in Shields’s story: If you don’t come from privilege, what happens when you fight your way to the top, only to realize that it looks a lot like where you started? In this case, the answer this movie gives is both simple and unthinkable: You just have to keep fighting. Claressa Shields did. What choice did she have?" https://lnkd.in/e3DurESY

The Cavalry Isn’t Coming to Save Indie Film Independent filmmakers, here’s the truth: If we keep trying to make movies the way Hollywood does, we will fail. We’re not playing at the same table. And the way things are set up, we never will. Hollywood has $100M budgets. We’re working with $1M (if we’re lucky). You know what happens to the runts of the litter? They die. But here’s the good news: We don’t need their table. The technology and distribution landscape have changed. Elegant, powerful films can be made with fewer resources. The barrier isn’t the budget—it’s the skill and talent. Here’s what you need to focus on: Audience first, film second. Build your base early. Share your journey. Engage the people who will care about your story before you shoot a single frame. Scout talent relentlessly. Find the actors, DPs, and collaborators who are ready to break through. They’re out there—waiting for someone like you to see their potential. Simplify your production. Ask yourself: What could I achieve with a crew of five? Start small, and scale strategically. Tell a story that can’t be ignored. It’s not about explosions or spectacle. It’s about performances, vision, and heart. Indie film isn’t about competing with Hollywood. It’s about doing what they can’t. The cavalry isn’t coming. But that’s okay. We can save indie film ourselves. Lean in. Get scrappy. And make something extraordinary.
