Leveraging cultural events to tell a brand story is not a new formula. And despite no actual football being played, the #NFLDraft is a cultural event. An average of 12.1 million viewers tuned in on television and streaming platforms, the highest viewership since 2021 and a 6% increase from last year. Many sponsorship rights holders wait for the property to do the heavy lifting to tell their own brand story, as if simply buying a sponsorship is the end of the road. Brands which proactively leverage the rights available are better positioned to insert their own message into the larger conversation around a cultural event, such as the NFL Draft. USAA and 160over90 inserted a military appreciation and #SaluteToService message into a cultural event which doesn't necessarily have a focus on the military. The message... ✅ ...was authentic. ✅ ...was relevant to the cultural event. ✅ ...included star power. ✅ ...reached an audience at scale. ✅ ...was specific to the brand and the brand story. I'm quick to point out when a brand does #MilitaryMarketing wrong. It's a lot more fun to point out when a brand does it right.

I have had concerns since late last decade that the Australian Defence Force has been ill-prepared at point of injury care and best practices post our most recent COIN conflict with #AUKUS allies. Regardless of the fact the ADF adopt small parts of TCCC and then choose to ignore or dismiss entire parts of the continuum delivery/capability ( e.g TC3-CLS within Arms Corps personnel ) The ‘AS-TCCC’ fails to follow best global practices and developed guidelines from our greatest ally, which make me concerned for our current service personnel and their battlefield survivability. Hence SOTER International was conceived to accelerate this. Now to hear this ….…makes me concerned 10 fold. When is the ADF going to realise it’s too late….our (Australian) soldiers, sailors and airmen need to be trained NOW prior to a possible ‘neer-peer’ conflict, without potentially, air dominance or at least freedom of manoeuvre. There will be no time for ‘just in time training’ next time and we are failing to embrace the learnings of the #42 and integrating medical training/scenarios into every exercise and rehearsal. #tccc #concerns #adf #defenceindustry #soterinternational

Limit on DoD A/E fees increases from 6% to 10%. As part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024, H.R. 2670 Sec. 2281 incorporates revisions to USC Title 10 Sections 7540, 8612, and 9540, effectively raising the A/E fee limits from 6% to 10% for all Army, Navy, and Air Force design services.

The next AFC CFT - Deep Sensing. I wonder whether the ongoing efforts of the Army’s existing ISR Task Force will align with, or nest under this new CFT? Appears that “deep sensing” is the overarching construct with ISR being one of several potential sub-constructs (with myriad capabilities then aligned accordingly).

Our opportunity to ensure that we maintain an enduring competitive advantage is fleeting. We must modernize the Joint Force to deter our adversaries, defend the United States, ensure future military advantage, and, if necessary, prevail in conflict. The Joint Force has taken the first step by developing and publishing the Joint Warfighting Concept (JWC) and updating Joint Publication 1, Doctrine for the Armed Forces of the United States. The JWC is a joint, combined vision for how the U.S. military will operate across all domains. The next step is to create a leadership structure that turns concepts into capabilities. The Joint Force must make fundamental changes now to win the next war and, by doing so, we will deter the war from happening in the first place.
