Red Lobster is emerging from #bankruptcy after just three months But the casual dining chain of seafood #restaurants is exiting bankruptcy with a slimmer #realestate footprint The new Red Lobster is expected to operate 544 restaurants, 16% fewer than were open at the beginning of 2024 So what happens to the real estate of the 100+ Red Lobster restaurants that closed? Are other restaurants likely to take the space? Or could it be repurposed for other uses? Casual dining chains operated by Darden, Bloomin' Brands, Inc. and Applebee's Neighborhood Grill + Bar typically develop their own real estate and may not have interest in the Red Lobster sites But independent restaurants and regional chains - such as Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood Restaurant & Bar - have relied on “2nd generation” buildings that are already built out as restaurants for growth Still other former #RedLobster restaurants may be repurposed for #adaptivereuse as office, retail and even multi-tenant developments ⬇
