Supervision ReceivedWorks independently and only reports to the supervisor, when necessary, approval or other direction is required. You’ve got a great plan to meet future water needs. It represents diversification and it’s “new” water. There’s some technology involved. In fact, there are several choices for technology. You have some talented staff, but they all have full time jobs running and maintaining existing facilities and operations. At the point, some utilities just hire a new engineer or project management professional to manage the procurement process, but really? A new hire to oversee what is probably a multi-million dollar undertaking? Or, you can kick it to the board and let the procurement process proceed as usual. Except these are unusual times economically, politically, and climately (that is a word I just made up!) Another solution could be an owner’s representative. Experienced, qualified hands that know the water and wastewater industry and can provide critical supervisory skills, including recommendation alternatives to what the contractor is suggesting. And, when the project is complete to your satisfaction, the owner’srep job is over and you’re left with a great project that does what it’s supposed to do. Just at thought.
