Man City 3-0 Wolves – Premier League: Erling Haaland scores a first-half HAT-TRICK in one-sided encounter – as Pep Guardiola’s side look to close the gap on Arsenal in title hunt https://ift.tt/FPNoeMu Premier League By Harry Bamforth Published: 11:00 EDT, 4 May 2024 | Updated: 13:21 EDT, 4 May 2024 Advertisement HALF-TIME: Man City 3-0 Wolves Man City 3-0 Wolves It should be 4-0, I can’t believe it isn’t. The resulting free-kick causes chaos inside the six-yard box and the ball falls to Josko Gvardiol. However, the Croatian defender can’t sort his feet out to score a tap in and Wolves get it clear. Man City 3-0 Wolves I’m not sure Wolves know what has hit them. They are all over the place, Man City have them chasing shadows. Also, the amount of fouls they have conceded is crazy. They have just given away another free-kick. GOAL!!! Man City 3-0 Wolves (Haaland 45+3′) Jose Sa guesses the right way this time as Erling Haaland goes the same way, but the power is too much for him. That should be that now. This could be a rout! VAR: PENALTY GIVEN! Just as expected, a penalty is given. That was a stonewall spot-kick, I can’t believe Craig Pawson didn’t give it upon first viewing. Guess who is about to take the penalty? Erling Haaland of course. A chance for the hat-trick. POSSIBLE PENALTY… Surely, that should be a penalty? Erling Haaland is through on goal and Nelson SEmedo is snapping at his heels. Just as Haaland is about to pull the trigger, Semedo takes him out from behind, but the referee says no. Oh, hang on, the referee has been sent to the monitor… Man City 2-0 Wolves This is just too easy for Manchester City. It feels like a training session, City are just knocking it around the park. They aren’t breaking a sweat. It doesn’t feel like the high-pressure match that it is. Man City 2-0 Wolves Manuel Akanji has gone down, but I think he is going to be ok. It gives me a chance to watch that goal again and see just how high Erling Haaland leaped to head home. The only two people I can think of who can jump like that are Cristiano Ronaldo and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. GOAL!!! Man City 2-0 Wolves (Haaland 35′) Wolves are the masters of their own downfall. Rodri wins the ball high up the pitch after two Wolves players collide. He combines with Kevin de Buryne before floating a ball to the back post for Erling Haaland to head home. Premier League I can’t get over how high Haaland just leaped. Any higher and he would have jumped out of the stadium. Incredibly impressive. Arsenal fans, I think this one may be over. Man City 1-0 Wolves Joao Gomes, you silly boy. The Wolves midfielder wipes out Mateo Kovacic to give Manchester City a set-piece in a very dangerous position. Luckily for Gomes, Sa is fouled as the ball is sent in, so the free-kick comes to nothing. You can’t be making challenges like that though against City. Man City 1-0 Wolves Wolves seem to have a bit of their mojo back. Matheu...

Fulham face competition from Napoli and fellow Premier League club for Arsenal star: Fulham are set to face competition from Napoli and Aston Villa for the signing of Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal, according to reports. The Cottagers have been heavily linked with the 23-year-old recently and are understood to be making him their ‘priority target’ this summer. Smith Rowe is likely to seek a move away from his boyhood club this summer as he finds himself behind Martin Odegaard in the battle to be Arsenal’s starting attacking midfielder. Although disrupted by injury, Smith Rowe was limited to just 13 Premier League appearances last season, while only four of his 19 outings across all competitions came from the start. Nevertheless, Smith Rowe’s 2021/22 Premier League campaign where he notched 10 goals and two assists still lives fresh in the memory and there’s no doubt the three-time England international could yet become a star if given consistent minutes. Fulham to face competition for Smith Rowe signature Although Marco Silva is keen to add Smith Rowe to his attacking unit, it may be tough for the Cottagers to convince the midfielder to make the move. According to a report from talkSPORT, Italian giants Napoli are looking to bring Smith Rowe on board as part of their summer rebuild after dropping to 10th in Serie A just a year after winning the title. Aston Villa are also understood to be admirers of Smith Rowe, although they would have to sell players first in order to fund any summer spending. But if Unai Emery can offload some squad members, there’s no doubt he will hold an edge in negotiations given he can offer Champions League football. Smith Rowe also made nine appearances for Arsenal during Emery’s tenure across the 2018/19 and 2019/20 campaigns, scoring three goals. Gameweek 23 | Everton Football Club vs Tottenham Hotspur Football Club | Goodison Park A brace from Richarlison saw Spurs going home with the three points, but a late header from Jarrad Branthwaite in the 4th minute of the stoppage time spoiled the party for the visitors. Though Spurs took the lead twice in the game, they couldn't keep at it. Here's the match analysis of Ange Postecoglou's Spurs: - 2+2 and 3+1 build up - Full backs occupying the half spaces with wingers holding the width - Overloading the center to isolate the wingers and create 1v1 - Half space runs - Counter pressing inn the middle third. Strengths: - Were able to regain possession with counter pressing - Were effective at creating goal scoring opportunities from the flanks Weakness: - Committed number of individual errors - Not effective in defending set pieces - Shift in the defensive line leaving space in the opposite flank in the defensive third. 📹 Video is made with Play by Metrica Sports. #football #footballanalysis #spurs #everton #premierleague #matchanalysis

Hull City Hope To Land £5 Million Attacking Midfielder https://ift.tt/gLhtsq0 Championship side Hull City are hopeful of turning Fabio Carvalho’s loan deal from Premier League Liverpool permanent in the summer, according to INews. The 21-year-old joined Hull in January following a difficult start to the season at German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. He appeared 15 times for the club but primarily in small cameos of between five and 15 minutes. This prompted Jurgen Klopp’s side to recall him and send him to the second tier of English football. Tan Kesler the executive vice-chairman of the club pulled out all the stops to land their target. Speaking to The I he detailed the approach; “In this business, how fast you get information is key. We monitor the German market closely and getting that information first gave us a competitive advantage but convincing players like Fabio isn’t easy,” “Even his agent, who is a great friend of ours, was shocked at our approach for him. He said: ‘Can you afford him?’ I said it’s not a matter of affording him, we want him so much we’re going to clear the budget for him.” How Has The Move Gone So Far? Since his move to the KCOM Stadium, Carvalho has been ever present, he has started all 10 games, playing all ninety minutes on four occasions. He has chopped in with three goals and averaged a rating of 6.93 on football statistics website WhoScored which ranks him third behind Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves in the Hull City lineup. Will Liverpool Allow The Deal? This summer is a monumental one for the Merseyside club as legendary manager Jurgen Klopp steps down from his position as manager. It is likely those in decision making positions will want to clear the decks of players who likely have no future to give more room in their budget to back the new man coming in. Carvalho has been at the club for a couple of years and with his young age has never really staked a claim to be a consistent first team squad member. Fulham also hold a sell-on clause with the player estimated to be at 20% according to the BBC. This means that they are unlikely to recoup the £5million they spent on bringing the player to Anfield. It is most likely that the club will allow him to leave for a lesser amount and input some clauses such as a sell on clause or perhaps as is becoming frequently popular a buy-back clause into any potential deal. The player is happy at Hull and Liverpool could do with freeing up as much of the wage budget as possible so the move could happen.
The post Hull City Hope To Land £5 Million Attacking Midfielder first appeared on LSM Sports.
Ryan Whelan Read More At Look Sports Media

Oxford United Set Sights On League Two Midfielder https://ift.tt/bskExZz Oxford United are reportedly keen to secure the signing of League Two Barrow midfielder Dean Campbell, according to Football Scotland. The former Aberdeen midfielder joined the Bluebirds in the summer on a permanent deal from Aberdeen upon the expiry of his contract. Prior to this, he had helped Steve Evans’ Stevenage side achieve promotion to League One last season making 26 appearances before his return to Scotland. Since his move to Barrow, he has appeared 36 times, scoring on three occasions and securing an average rating of 6.65 on the football statistics website Whoscored. This ranking puts him ahead of fan favourites such as Ben Whitfield in the Barrow squad. What does the report say about Oxford United‘s interest? The publication claims that representatives for the 22-year-old are holding talks with the League One side after impressing new Oxford United boss Des Buckingham with his form. Any move would require a fee to be paid as the midfielder signed a two-year contract when linking up with the League Two club. QPR Monitoring Non-League Midfielder A good move for Campbell? The move was somewhat of a coup for Barrow, who have been impressive in the transfer market this season signing the likes of Cole Stockton and James Chester. But the opportunity to play in the third tier or possibly the Championship could be too good an opportunity to turn down. Barrow do still have an opportunity to gain promotion to League One, however, it is becoming increasingly likely that it may have to be through the play-offs rather than automatically. Stockport, Mansfield, Wrexham, Crewe Alexandra and MK Dons look to be battling for the top three slots. Two of the above will have to settle for a spot in the play offs and with just 10 points separating 6th to 16th and 10/11 games remaining for the majority of teams it could come down to the wire with more twists and turns guaranteed. Should Barrow gain promotion it could tempt him to remain with Pete Wild’s side, especially if Oxford United remain in League One, but the chance to battle at the top end of the table or in the second tier may mean Oxford be his likely destination.
The post Oxford United Set Sights On League Two Midfielder first appeared on LSM Sports.
Ryan Whelan Read More At Look Sports Media

Darvin Nunez's goal for Liverpool FC against Brentford FC epitomizes the essence of quick counterattacking football combined with individual skill, composure, and decisiveness in front of the goal. The goal unfolded in an astonishingly short period of 9 seconds, with Liverpool launching a rapid counterattack that culminated in Nunez's clinical finish. The goal began with a lightning-fast transition from defence to attack, a hallmark of Liverpool's playing style under their manager Jürgen Klopp. As the ball was won back, the team swiftly transitioned forward, exploiting the spaces left by Brentford's set-piece attacking move. This quick transition caught Brentford's defence off guard, leaving them exposed and scrambling to recover. Diogo Jota found himself in a 1v1 situation with a Brentford defender. Jota brilliantly ran into the space where the ball was cleared by Van Dijk and then beat the defender with a header by physically staying strong resulting in a deliberate clinical assist to Darwin Núñez. However, Nunez's goal showcased his mental fortitude and composure under pressure, traits often lacking in players who have struggled with confidence or finishing in the past. Nunez displayed remarkable calmness and confidence as he made an incredibly long run to support Jota. Instead of rushing his shot or succumbing to nerves, Nunez maintained his composure and executed a sublime finish over the goalkeeper's head. This decision to loft the ball over the goalkeeper demonstrated Nunez's astute awareness of the situation and his ability to make the right choice under pressure. Nunez's goal also underscores the importance of perseverance and resilience in football. Despite having missed 21 big chances and hitting the woodwork 9 times throughout the season in the Premier League, Nunez has maintained his focus and continued to work hard. His ability to bounce back from setbacks and deliver a crucial goal highlights his mental strength and character as a player. Furthermore, Nunez's impressive goal-scoring record in the Premier League, with nine goals and seven assists, underscores his significant contribution to Liverpool's attacking prowess. His partnership with Jota, who has also been in outstanding form, further enhances Liverpool's attacking threat and provides them with multiple goal-scoring options. It not only showcases Nunez's talent as a goal scorer but also his mental fortitude and resilience in overcoming challenges. His contribution underscores his importance to Liverpool FC's attacking prowess and their pursuit of success in the Premier League. As I share this analysis on LinkedIn, I welcome corrections and advice from my connections to further refine my understanding and insights, as I truly believe continuous learning and improvement are essential aspects of professional development.
