Our recent team day with Entain's HR and L&D team was an absolute blast! We dove deep into the theme of stepping out of our comfort zones, honing our team strengths, and cultivating bounce-back resilience - all while having a tonne of fun, of course! One of the highlights was our engaging activity focused on embracing failure as a stepping stone to success. Together, we built towers (quite literally!) of resilience, learning, and growth. But it wasn't just about building towers; it was about building a culture where failure is not feared but celebrated as a vital part of the learning process. Have you ever been part of a company that celebrates your arrival but seems to forget you the moment you leave? It’s a common situation, reflecting a culture that values contributions only as long as they directly impact the top/ bottom line. The message it sends about company culture is clear: people are viewed as replaceable parts rather than integral members of a team. Yet, the reality is that careers evolve. People look for new challenges, better opportunities, or simply a change of scenery. The end of an employee's tenure doesn't negate their contributions or the relationships formed along the way. This feeling is deeply ingrained at XtraMile. Here, the belief is that every team member, whether currently with us or having moved on, remains an important part of story. Our founder, Sten Ove Elvegård, says, “It’s important to keep in touch with previous employees. They are our ambassadors out in the world.” Take the story of Ole Martin Thorshaug Kristiansen (pictured), for example. After leaving XtraMile in November for a new opportunity at 62°NORD Hotels & Adventures, our founders made a promise to celebrate his contributions properly. True to their word, he was invited to a belated julebord (Christmas gathering) last week, where we celebrated past achievements and new beginnings. It was so fun to catch up with Ole Martin, share stories, and hear about his adventures since moving on. Operating in the gifts market for nearly 2,000 years, North Pole faced challenges as their #performance stagnated, with #workforce morale at an all-time low. This resulted in decreasing #production quality and a lack of #innovation, ultimately impacting North Pole Venture's market position and financial #performance.
