We have some incredible principals here in PSD! Thank you to the Colorado Department of Education for highlighting Bethke Elementary School Principal Ann Alfonso in celebration of National Principal Month. #PSDProud
October is National Principal Month, and we're celebrating the school leaders who serve and support Colorado educators, students, and families. Ann Alfonso is the principal of Bethke Elementary School in the Poudre School District. She says the most rewarding part of being a principal is watching children learn how to read, solve problems, and express themselves through writing and the arts. She told us that “The best part of my day is when a student comes to my office to read to me!” Ann joined the school when it opened in 2008 and has loved watching it grow. “This special school has become everything I hoped and planned for it to be -- a welcoming, positive, collaborative professional learning community that honors all learners.” She also enjoys working with educators and helping them grow in their craft. “I love when former students write to me or come back and share how our school made a difference in their lives.” In her free time, Ann loves exploring the outdoors outdoors with her son and husband.

Incredible to see Irish Elementary School teacher Isela Cervantes highlighted for World Teacher's Day! #PSDProud
Teachers make the world go ‘round! 🌎🏫 World Teacher’s Day happened over the weekend, so we wanted to take a moment to celebrate some of our students and alums who are out in classrooms preparing the next generation. Isela Cervantes teaches at Irish Elementary and says she loves teaching because “It's incredibly rewarding to see them grow and achieve their goals, but even more fulfilling to watch them elevate their journey as humans. As we build a community together, I hope to instill in them a belief in their own potential and the power of perseverance.” Scott Scheese teaches at Big Thompson Elementary School and loves teaching because “every year, every day is so different. Nothing about teaching is dull or boring. Every day is a new adventure. Students and our ever-changing communities keep you on your toes.” Chole Anderson teaches in Texas and loves teaching because “it allows me to be a lifelong learner. My students teach me about myself, the world, and so much more on a daily basis.” Kristi Brooks is an Early Childhood Education with Licensure student who hopes to impact her future students how her teachers impacted her. “I can count on my fingers how many teachers I had that had who had a profound impact on me and I hope that I one day can do the same for my students.”
