We’re excited to introduce you to Ali Warburton, our CEO and founder! A rather overdue post, we thought the best way to help you get to know Ali was to ask her some questions, so here they are. 1. What were you doing before pow? I had two catering businesses before POW. For 20 years we were the go to caterers for A List talent flying in from LA requiring bespoke nutritional catering. In 2005 - 2010 I ran a venue on the Portobello road specialising in raw, healthy food which turned into an events space at night! 2. Where does your passion for healthy food come from? I’ve always loved my food, I’d be the first asking for seconds from a young age, and from a family of four siblings, mealtimes were always a focus. My passion for healthy food came when we started working with our clients from LA, with that came an understanding of the huge gap of nutritional awareness between LA and London especially within the hospitality industry. 3. What’s your favourite restaurant in London and why? It’s difficult to name one! The one thing I look for when picking a restaurant is transparency on where they source their products. I do however love a Sunday roast, so if I pick one I’d have to say The Cow in Notting Hill. It’s the place I associate to many wonderful memories with friends and family 4. What’s something that might surprise people about you (fear, hobby..?) I had a bad stutter as child and this is still something I struggle with on a daily basis, however one of the most eye-opening things for me was being able to view my stutter as simply a part of who I am—and not something that controls who I am. 5. How do you like to spend your time out of work? My favourite thing is spending time with my two girls and my two naughty Jack Russell’s. I start every day with a meditation. I also like to eat out and have a dance with friends. 6. Can you share a memorable moment or achievement since starting the company? Being the first female led caterer in the UK to achieve B-Corp accreditation. This was driven by Emily, my daughter and co founder of Pow food and our head of sustainability.

Gun to your head, I bet you could enhance some of your food choices. Not sure why this situation would ever come about, but let's roll with it! Almost everyone I've worked with knows what they SHOULD eat... They just don't get around to doing it. Does that sound familiar? Planning bridges that gap. Just spending a few minutes deciding what meals you want to have... And how they will fit around your time commitments. It's about getting more organised. More purposeful. Ensuring you actually have the ingredients to make your meals. I am running a free 'Meal Planning Masterclass'. You can have it for free if you DM me the word 'PLANNING'.

🎉How do you make an annual meeting a success? Simple: food!🍽️ The property I now manage had a bit of a rough experience at their last annual meeting, and the Board was concerned about turnout since this was our first in-person meeting since Covid and also being under new management. Naturally, the concierge and I had the same lightbulb moment… food! 💡🍪 I made sure to bring out the snacks, and let me tell you – it worked! Residents enjoyed the refreshments, and the meeting went so smoothly. Sometimes, it’s the little details that count, and in this case, a few tasty treats went a long way. Pro tip: When in doubt, bring the snacks! 😄 #communitymanagement

I experienced several moments of cringe at a recent conference Moments where I was also personally convicted At every meal (breakfast, breaks, and lunch) seeing carts of uneaten food being whisked away. This waste hit me HARD! I literally stood there, frozen, watching the staff take away the food that was not eaten, and processing so many thoughts. Coming from a third word country (Vietnam) and planning in an awareness era of sustainability, I was personally convicted. It made me reflect on the importance of being more conscious to NOT over-order food. Here are a few tips to balance food orders and budgets responsibly: ***Estimate Attendance*** For paid events, expect a 10-15% no-show rate; for free events, expect 40-50%. For example, if 100 people register for a ticketed event, plan for 85-90 attendees. For free events, plan for 50-60 attendees *** Meal Attrition*** Understand that not everyone will eat the same amount, nor will they eat at every meal. Breakfast: If you have 90 attendees, expect an additional 15% attrition. Order breakfast for 75-80 people. Offer multiple sides like yogurt, parfaits, or fruit, but only for 50-60% of attendees (37-48 people). A.M. and P.M. Breaks: Order for about 60% of attendees (54 people if you have 90 attendees). Lunch: Order for about 95% of attendees (86 people if you have 90 attendees) *** Leverage Hotel Policies *** Many hotels provide a 5% overage on food orders. If you order meals for 100 people, they typically provide enough for 105. Utilize this buffer to avoid over-ordering. Remember, not everyone will eat a full meal, and venues usually have contingencies to ensure there's enough food. ____ At the end of every event, we always do a post-event report where we capture data on food consumption (provided by the hotel). So if possible, get the food consumption report from last year's program to estimate the new count! ____ I will definitely try to do better when I'm eating out to not over order! IT starts with ME! #eventmanagement #eventmarketing

Unreasonably good #hospitality and customer service are not just nice touches — they are transformative. They create experiences that leave a lasting imprint, setting you apart in ways that people remember for years. I joined a book club about eight years ago. The women in this group are not just welcoming and brilliant, they embody a level of hospitality that’s almost magical. Every month, one of them opens her home, offering coffee, fresh fruit, and usually two desserts — complete with whipped cream. What’s even more inspiring is that our diverse books are chosen democratically, fostering discussions that are always rich and fascinating. I have dietary restrictions that can make social eating tricky — gluten and dairy are off-limits for me, which is especially problematic when it comes to desserts. But here’s where the magic comes in: I don’t ever recall mentioning this to anyone at the book club. Yet every single time I attend, there’s at least one dessert I can eat. Whether it’s a regular hostess or a brand new member hosting for the first time, they somehow know. Someone must pass the word, because without fail, my needs are graciously accommodated. That’s the power of unreasonably good hospitality — it anticipates your needs before you even voice them. It makes you feel seen, valued, and cared for in ways that go beyond the norm. When was the last time you experienced hospitality or service that made you feel so completely taken care of? Better yet, what are you doing to extend that same level of care to others? How are you going above and beyond to leave people feeling deeply appreciated? #customerservice #customerexperience

What Role Does Catering Play In Society be it a social gathering, corporate conference, or wedding, can be a daunting undertaking. Corporate caterers relieve the host of the stress of preparing, cooking, and serving food, freeing them up to focus on other important details of the event. The caterers take care of everything, from setup to cleanup, which increases event efficiency and reduces organizer stress. https://lnkd.in/d6Psh56G
