This morning, crews and contractors were continuing work on the new SAGE Center expansion overflow parking area, landscaping, and applying stucco to the building’s exterior. Everything is taking shape and we are excited to see this project complete and open. 🌟 GET TO KNOW JULIE YOUNG! 🌟 Join us for an insightful Q & A session with Julie Young, one of our devoted agents. 𝗤: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲? 𝗔: I have been greatly inspired by my Dad, who was a very successful builder here on the Coast and more recently, at 79 years of age, a judge for HIA Building Awards. Decades later his most iconic builds still stand proud on Minyama Island and Moffat Beach. Growing up here on the Coast and being surrounded by all aspects of the building trade has helped me understand construction and the intricacies of real estate. 𝗤: 𝗔𝗻𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀? 𝗔: I long aspired to be an architect. When I was a kid I would draw hundreds of floorplans and bring the plans to life with Legos! Complete houses with internal walls and north facing pools! In my teens I did a summer internship with a local Architecture firm and a CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) course however somewhere along the way I changed paths. 𝗤: 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁? 𝗔: Helping people along their property journey. It is so rewarding when you successfully connect people with the property they have been searching for. I truly care about the outcomes of the clients. 𝗤: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁? 𝗔: The beaches, of course! I love walking along the beach especially the coastal path from Dicky Beach to Golden Beach. 𝗤: 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀? 𝗔: In many ways my real estate journey has only just begun! My goals from here are centred around connecting people with properties by recognising the needs of clients and collaborating with a knowledgeable and supportive team. Real Estate is an ever-evolving business so it’s important to align yourself with the right people to call on for advice. ⭐️ Learn more about Julie here: https://loom.ly/PH45ZMM #QandA #realestateagent #sunshinecoast #AW #amberwerchonproperty #propertyexperts #peoplefocused

Principal Instructor at University of Colorado, Boulder, Founder, Construction-Education, and Principal Training Specialist at Safety Function
Summer has arrived and newbies are joining your projects. Go back in time and recall your first days in construction. The jobsite looks and sounds chaotic. The jargon used on site sounds like a foreign language. Here is a recent quote from a young field engineer - "As a novice in the industry, I felt an overall uncertainty about all the details. I had to learn on the fly - leaving me quietly Googling terms or asking embarrassing questions to my superintendent." We're asking new interns and engineers to navigate a complex construction environment while also performing important tasks. For the sake of safety, production, quality and all the other critical factors on a project, put yourself in their shoes and take time to train and orient your new folks this summer. If you're looking for time-tested resources, Construction-Education can help.

Remember when you started your apprenticeship or first job? We do. Albeit mine was in landscape construction and at the fresh young age of 14. I remember my boss always hounding me about keeping the site clean. For James, the story was similar. This ethos was burned into our brains from a very young age: Take pride in what you do no matter the task, do it well and put your all into it. It wasn’t until later in my career when I was much older (but not much wiser) that I realized the importance of keeping a clean workplace. The benefits extend far beyond aesthetics. A clean workspace boosts productivity, enhances client perception, improves work safety, and increases overall job satisfaction. This lesson, instilled in us from the start, is a core value we uphold at Trial By Fire. Here’s a glimpse of our joinery workshop, a testament to our commitment to a clean and efficient work environment. What lessons have you learned in your career that took some time to really sink in? Share your experiences—I’d love to hear them! #WorkplaceSafety #Productivity #Joinery #Carpentry #WorkplaceTips #CleanWorkspace

Like many of us, graduate site engineer Allen Baldwin Maxion Glo got his first job at McDonalds, and it taught him useful skills for his future career including communication, teamwork and task management. Now, Allen has his dream gig at Lendlease and his advice is "Take every opportunity – whether it’s a job, volunteering or a uni event." “All my experiences helped me achieve every role that I got. They’re all small steps but they led me to a career that I am and will always be proud of.” ❤️ Read Allen's full profile in the latest issue of Careers with STEM https://lnkd.in/gRJsHzdH

Meet The Team at Whitefox - Chartered Surveyors - Spotlight Q&A: We're pleased to introduce you to Assistant Quantity Surveyor Josh Byrne and to learn about his work, his hobbies and how he successfully balances work and studying. 1. Tell me about your background and how you ended up in this role? I came out of sixth form knowing I wanted some sort of role in finance and did not want to go to university full time, so my best option was an apprenticeship. I came across Quantity Surveying from people I knew who had gone into apprenticeships in Surveying and had heard only positive words about the industry, so I started looking for companies hiring and stumbled across Whitefox through them crossing paths with my father’s line of work. 🏗️ 2. Currently you’re studying at University of Portsmouth alongside/ in combination with this role at Whitefox. How do you manage your time between work and studies? What are some of the challenges you’ve faced while working and studying simultaneously ? I try and squeeze as much as I can in on my day release for university, and then I am studying when I get home from work as well. This is to try to keep my weekends free. The main challenge is balancing work, uni and my social life. 👨🎓 3. What are some of the most interesting things you’ve learned so far? The most interesting thing in the office space is how to put together a cost plan for building projects, and how to quantify certain elements of a building. I’m currently involved with a project called Brewers Quay in Weymouth and seeing the difference in #construction over the last 100 years is amazing. 📈 4. If you weren’t doing this role, what do you think you might have been doing in an alternate reality? Something to do with football / sports. I would have loved to have been a professional athlete. 🏅 5. Who has had the biggest impact/influence on you career or personal life (can be either one)? In my personal life it would have to be my parents. 🎉 6. What’s your favourite way to spend your days off? Walking the dog with my family 🐕 A round of golf ⛳ Watching the football ⚽ Going out for meals 🍽️ 7. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Seychelles and / or Machu Pichu. ⛰️ 8. Do you have any books or podcast recommendations that you listen too? Or if not this then any music? High Performance Podcast is good to hear insights of different sporting personalities. 🎧 9. Lastly, What’s the one thing you’d like to do and/or achieve in the next 12 Months that you’ve never done before? Any goals? A hole in one. 🏌️ #MeetTheTeam #Dorset
