was amazed by the capacity of this brief video on procurement management to provide a clear knowledge of the underlying ideas after seeing it. The movie did a good job of outlining the value of contract management, supplier selection, and strategic sourcing in the procurement process. It emphasised the value of building trusting relationships with suppliers, securing advantageous terms, and guaranteeing adherence to rules and moral standards. The movie also emphasised the advantages of cost savings, risk reduction, and improved efficiency achieved by smart procurement practises. I learned a lot about the several phases of the procurement process, such as the request, purchase order. Overall, this video broadened my understanding of procurement management and highlighted how crucial it is to accomplishing organizational goals.

Are we in the new arms race? While nuclear power is the ultimate deterrent under MAD theory, aka the option of last resort, preventing uncontrollable escalation on the escalatory ladder. So it is conventional tech that wars will be continued to be fought with, and that conventional tech is now jumping quickly into fast development phases all around the world. From recent cancelation of FARA program, a $2B program that develops future helicopter for the US Army, development of unmanned submarines developed by Anduril Industries for #USA 🇺🇸 and #Australia 🇦🇺, to sudden changes in bureaucratic adaptations of tech and procurement is speeding up change that we are hardly realizing is happening. It feels, looks, and talks like a duck 🦆 so is this the arm race duck all over again?

Some demand response action in NYISO today. As load rose, the ISO deployed Special Case Resources (SCRs), a long-standing program. SCRs are a reliability-based demand response program whose participants are able to sell into NYISO's capacity auctions, but not the energy or ancillary markets. State-wide activations are particularly obvious in the North and West zones as the resources in those areas represent a relatively larger portion of zonal demand. In this case some congestion followed the activation which caused price separation - particularly severe in the North Zone. It was another hot day and load was beating the day-ahead forecast, but this activation occurred while load was slightly under 28 GW, well shy of the ~31.5 GW coincident peak load forecast ahead of the summer. We began our conversation with Olena Kucheruk, Manager of the Procurement Department at Kyivteploenergo, with the assumption that in the context of war and Russia’s constant targeted shelling of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the most important thing is the prompt supply of goods and services necessary to repair the damage and restore energy services. Now is the war, so, for example, fuel or oil for emergency repair vehicles, spare parts for equipment damaged by shelling, or even ordinary glass to glaze windows broken at heating plants are urgently needed. “Without a doubt, delivery terms are essential, but there are no less important requirements regarding the quality and transparency of purchases. In martial law conditions, the Government of Ukraine simplified procurement procedures and shortened the terms of tenders. Still, competition, efficiency, and transparency as the main principles of procurement activity, as well as responsibility for the result, were not canceled by anyone,” Olena emphasizes.
